Boucheron’s new high jewellery collection, named Rêves d’Ailleurs, draws inspiration from the intrepid voyages of the founder’s son, Louis, to the Orient in 1910. Divided into five lines, the jewellery collection evokes the splendor and aesthetics of India, Japan, China, Russia and Persia. The spectacular 188.79-carat Mughal emerald in the Fleur des Indes necklace, which dates back to the 17th century and has a sutra engraved on the stone, pays homage to the maison’s relationships with Indian princes and their surprising requests. From the purity of the water lily to the mystical waters, in Rives du Japon, white gold, sapphires, diamonds and rock crystal describe the ripples of the waves and the islands of the Japanese archipelago. The journey continues in Pinceau de Chine, where the calligraphic perfection of the Middle Earth is expressed in the necklace of rock crystal drops and pavé diamonds as if it were created with a single stroke of a (jeweler’s) brush. A little further on, Splendeur de Russie with its tiaras and aigrettes made for the imperial family and the aristocracy, a regal grandeur echoed in the tiara necklace, light as a laurel wreath, studded with brilliant-cut diamonds. And finally, the last stop: Tresor de Perse, taken from the historical archives of what was the first jeweler to open a shop on Place Vendome, with exceptional cabochon sapphires, chalcedony, engraved rock crystal and diamonds. They recall the indigo mosaic tiles of the Great Mosque of Isfahan, the capital of the Persian Empire in central Iran. The entire Rêves d’Ailleurs collection will be on display at the Biennale des Antiquaires this September in Paris.
