Silver and design in the Primitive collection by De Vecchi ♦ ︎
Design and silver are a real couple. White, shiny, pure metal is often associated with a strong focus on the look of jewelery design. This is the strength of De Vecchi, born in Milan in 1935 as a metal white specialist, and not just in the field of jewelery. The end of 2017, in any case, represents the debut of two new collections by De Vecchi. Of one, Foglie, we wrote here. The other new collection is called Primitive. As the name suggests, it is inspired by ancient tribal shapes such as shell necklaces or arrow tip. Only those forms are translated into a more modern and stylized design, with forms that are changed into contemporary language. Prices: The Primitive collection bracelet costs 709 euros, the necklace is 989 euros, the earrings 199 euros.

De Vecchi transforms silver into gold

De Vecchi introduces gold jewelery in the Foglie collection next to the classic silver ♦ ︎
To turn silver into gold you have to be alchemists (with a little fancy) or call yourself De Vecchi. The old Milanese Maison, famous for its silverware, after over 80 years of it turns with a collection that also includes gold. All right, most of the design jewels decidedly remain in silver. But the three 9-carat gold jewelery introduced in the Foglie collection is a turning point in the company’s history. It was not a random decision. The request, they explain in the company, comes from the market, that is, by so many jewelers who have asked for a variant of only silver. These are satisfied with the Foglie collection, with a very northern design, simple, with a touch of art deco. The collection includes pendant, ring and earrings both in silver and yellow metal, with light carat. The prices are obviously different: the silver pendant costs 185 euros, while in the gold version 819. The rings cost 213 in silver and 469 euros in gold. The earrings are 198 euros in silver and 549 euros in gold.

The new design silver jewelry by De Vecchi Milano 1935: pictures and prices.
The most important thing, in sports, is to repeat the successes, perhaps improving them. But also in the jewelry the same principle applies: if something goes well, better to continue on the same road, if anything, adding a dash of novelty. And it is the strategy of many Maison, including De Vecchi Milano 1935, which is known to the general public for its designer silvers. In the flagship store in Via Santo Spirito, a short walk from Via Monte Napoleone, the brand has presented the novelties of the season, including those for jewelery lines. New pieces are added to Maracas lines, Torchon, Contrarié, Tubes and Unchained. The silverware is always brilliant and, above all, have a special design, which is the strong point of the house. The Maracas line, for example, expands with a rigid bracelets, earrings and pendant with thin chain. The name comes from the clink, discreet, produced by mobile elements that distinguish the jewelry. We can show price: earrings 575 euro, bracelet 835 euro, necklace 560 euro. Torchon line: are new a rigid bracelet and two rings in different sizes characterized by the same spiral game. Two measures of the rings: one with a 13 mm thickness is priced at 460 euro, to 9 mm 440 euro. The bracelet, however, costs 790 euro. Contrarié: the new pieces are two rings, one oval and one square section. Tubes: the idea is that of a vague reference to ethnic jewelry, but actually are design. Unchained: to necklace chain are joined by two others with geometric plaques, plus a bracelet. Prices: the necklaces costs 900 euros, while the bracelet 395 euro.

Valentine’s Day is near, and for lovers De Vecchi Milano 1935 proposes the Global Love collection. No coincidence: the line is made up of big hearts in silver and bronzed brass which together form necklace and bracelet, both semi-rigid. The alternation of the two colors, silver and bronze, are a metaphor for the relationship of the couple, as well as an appearance. De Vecchi recommend matching bracelet and necklace in a pair of earrings and a large cocktail ring. De Vecchi, silver new life

Since 1935, De Vecchi is synonymous with silver. With a curious antithesis semantics, however, the Milan-based company is now updating (in italian language the word vecchi means old). And it is new in the classic silver objects for the home, in design, but it is traditional to quality. Now De Vecchi also offers a line of jewelry that is beautiful, modern, aggressive. On the other hand, more than a rejuvenation is a return to origins, since the company was founded by Piero De Vecchi wake of futuristic culture, which not coincidentally is born in Milan. Modernity is at home, in fact.
The new look and and the first jewels were presented in the spring (see also https://gioiellis.com/torna-largento-design-di-de-vecchi), but now debute the boutique on Via Santo Spirito, in the fashion district of Milan. They are based on sinuous, nordic, consistent design. Rings large, glittering, which are tied to with soft movements and surprising. Nice design and, above all, attractive: it is said that a smooth surface can result boredom, but not in this case. Here you do not run the risk. In addition to rings, earrings are composed of many individual pieces joined as a mesh, and a rigid necklace that looks like a sculpture, satin in half. And, then, the bronzed brass, a material that in some jewelry serves to move and warm the silver.

The different lines of jewelry have a proper name: Geometrie essenziali (Surveyors essential), as its name, prefers curves alternating with sharp edges, with large rings and substantial volumes. The line includes four rings of Intrecci Preziosi, always big, including a piece-built as an origami sculpture shiny silver. The Global Love serie is the most traditional, with big hearts in silver and bronzed brass. Again the Global Oval contrast shiny surfaces in satin, with each piece, from necklaces to bracelets, from earrings to rings, made by stitching together many small oval. Another line is named Maracas because the rings are reminiscent of the instruments of Central American music: know that hand motion produce a slight gingle. It is for those who do not want to go unnoticed. Finally: Portebonheur, that is, to good luck: a small pendant in the shape of coffee bean on top of a thin chain.

Consideration necessary: Yeah, but what if the ring or bracelet will darken, as happens in most of the jewels of silver? “Do not worry: all the pieces are treated with a refined technique that involves the use of nanoparticles of ceramic. A coating invisible protects the jewels from oxidation. Not darken, then, “says Lorenzo Traglio, CEO of De Vecchi.

De Vecchi silver design is back

The language of art and design, lives in the objects by De Vecchi 1935, silver historic brand, and speaks of mirrored surfaces, contrasts of light, new materials. Is true for historical pieces like the ultra famous T8, a revolutionary project, which in 1947 changed forever the canons of the candlestick made stemmed with its three supporting points. It is also true for new collection of jewelry presented in the store on Via Santo Spirito in Milan. «The idea was to create a line with a highly recognizable De Vecchi aesthetics, very materic in volumes, that would enhance shiny surfaces, affordable in price, but with a great quality» says Lorenzo Traglio, who leads the historic silverware brand of Milan, taken over by Vhernier in 2010. So silver twists in round or square geometries of the rings Contrarié (split end), overlaps sinuously in the ring Nodo, in three different versions with round elements, in section quadrangular or in combination of the two forms, and joins in the rings Abbraccio.

Traditional skills

«Attention, is not a simple job to work the silver, if you want to get those undulating forms and twisted and ensure not only the harmony of design, but also a perfect fit. Especially when it comes to rings of a certain size», adds Traglio. With much satisfaction that shows a beautiful bracelet, oval round, seemingly very simple, but with a twist just mentioned and refined. «It’s the most important piece of the collection, the bracelet torcion to which we have devoted six months of planning and countless tests modeling. Does not revolve around the wrist, to keep in view the details of the twist. It folds discreetly, and gives movement to the jewel with an effect of great design. Not only that, the hinge that allows the opening is literally impalpable: I challenge anyone, eyes closed, unable to locate the hub by touch. So, the bracelet is not only pleasant to wear, but you can put on from morning to evening on any occasion, even the most formal and feel the same elegant. So that’s an example of fine jewelry», says the manager.

Rings, bracelets, necklaces and …
But Torcion is not the only piece of the collection that boasts goldsmith skills. Even more seasonal patterns and young people are not simply “flat.” Rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces others, only in silver or alternate to bronze, always mirror, are heart-shaped or oval, and slightly rounded to give more character to a drawing basically simple. Similar detail for Lastra ring, flowing opened on the first phalanx. And then chains, chocker, rings with round blades overhead, that with some humor were named Maracas. Prices range from € 250 for Lastra ring to 550 Euros for the other rings, up to 1,100 Euros for the Torcion bracelet, which is the only one with this value.
