The jewelery auction organized by Christie’s in Geneva was a success. The Magnificent Jewels were sold for a mountain of money: 98.8 million Swiss francs (i.e. 1021 million dollars or 79.1 million euros). Of the jewels offered, 86% by lot and 93% by value were sold. The highest result was achieved by the Flawless diamond, D color, pear-shaped, 101.73 carats, sold for 20.7 million euros, i.e. 254,400 dollars per carat. This is the new world auction record for a colorless diamond. In total, 20 lots above one million were sold, with 147 buyers from 31 countries. Conclusion: the highest quality jewelry always sells, and well.
