Paul Wild, the gems are free

The extraordinary combinations with the stones designed by Paul Wild for Baselworld 2019 ♦ ︎

Baselworld is not only a great opportunity to observe watches and, above all, magnificent jewels. But without magnificent stones there would not exist much of the magnificent jewels. Here, then, the exceptional stones of Paul Wild, a fixed presence in Baselworld. Unlike other companies specializing in the sale of precious and semi-precious stones, Paul Wild makes his business an art. He interprets the stones, in short, and every year he orders them according to new sources of inspiration, with an ear that listen the influences of fashion. For example, anticipates the German Maison, the shades for spring 2019 are the red and orange shades. But the desire for a life that follows a more natural rhythm remains present. Not to mention the blue color, which is associated with other aspects of life: stability, trust, truth, faith, loyalty, wisdom, trust. From these considerations Paul Wild has composed three key chromatic themes for 2019: Bright Sight of Light, Abundance of Nature, Liaison de Couleurs.

Bright Sight of Light

This trend is inspired by the Pantone color for 2019, Living Coral. Paul Wild translates the concept with African tourmalines and golden yellow beryl from Brazil. Stones that can make up a necklace, a ring and earrings, in a suite of 71 gems for a total of 176.74 carats. The necklace radiates from a 39.4-carat golden beryl gold cabochon, with four cascading tiers of pear-shaped tourmalines in a mix of sizes and shades, pink to purple. “We chose this theme to express the spirit of Living Coral, which is radiant and joyful,” says CEO, Markus Paul Wild. A 22,01 carat cushioned tourmaline is chosen for the ring and 10 pear-shaped tourmalines in increasing sizes and color saturation are in the layout to match dangling earrings (10.05 total weight in carats).

Abundance of Nature

Chromatic trends closely aligned with nature have predominantly green and blue hues. Green is the universal symbol of nature, health. Blue is the color of the sky and the sea. With these images, Paul Wild assembled a vivid green-blue Paraiba tourmaline suite from Mozambique, consisting of a cluster ring and earrings totaling 77.32 carats and a teardrop necklace totaling 146.61 carats, with 63 stones in the set. A suite of beryls and tourmalines, 104 pieces for a total of 407.42 carats, is also part of this line. Like the droplets of water on the petals, the necklace, the earrings and the arrangement of the rings includes 195.30 carats of briolettes of aquamarine, 68.09 carats of morganite and 144.03 carats of Afghan tourmaline. A magnificent necklace of 109 pear-shaped Ceylon sapphires includes a total of 154.25 carats, with a range of colors ranging from blue to green to yellow and pink and all other imaginative colors.

Liaison de Couleurs

The new fashion colors for spring are vivid. Liaison de Couleurs, as the name suggests, combines natural precious stones to create new combinations. “We see this product as something visionary and innovative,” adds Wild. “We have chosen Basel as the best place to debut this innovation. We want to gather feedback from our good customers there to see what they think about colors, cuts and applications to help us move forward with product marketing. ”

The women as goddesses by Paul Wild

Spinels, tourmaline, emeralds, tanzanite … The incredible compositions of precious stones created by Paul Wild for women like dee ♦ ︎
There are people who have a gray life. There are others who have a color life. And there are others that see more nuances than others. Markus Wild, CEO of Paul Wild, is part of this small group of ultra sensitive to the invisible photon waves that determine what we see. Indeed, we often see without seeing. Because you have to have not only special eyes, but also a sensitivity out of the ordinary to choose, connect and compose strategies of gems in jewels that are not yet jewels. Which they will be.
Paul Wild is a German company that since the Twenties deals with buying and trading precious and semi-precious stones. But it is also a unique case in which buying and selling stones is accompanied by the ability to tune in to the tastes of the market and, often, to precede trends and evolutions in demand. Furthermore, the company’s proposals are always contextualized by an idea.
For 2018, for example, Paul Wild thinks to the “growing awareness of women’s issues is sounding a call to action that is empowering women in the workplace, in government and in their public and private lives”. Perhaps it is a unique case of social sensitivity towards women in the jewelry world.
As goddesses

Alongside these good principles there is, of course, the work of the company, that is, the choice and the proposal of the stones, this year associated with the goddesses of Greek mythology. For example, the red «dramatic, warm and captivating». Imagining jewelry that suits the goddess of love and passion, Aphrodite, Paul Wild created patterns with red and pink spinels from Tanzania. The most notable is a set of nine red heart-shaped spinels for a total of over 112 carats; an earring inspired by flowers with 80 mauve spinels weighing 21 carats with two tanzanites for a total of 9.78 carats; and two single red spinels: a 17.15 carat marquise-cut spinel and a 11.67-carat heart-shaped spinel.

The second color is blue, that of the sea and the sky, associated with open spaces, freedom, imagination and inspiration. Inspired by Amphitrite, goddess of the sea, Paul Wild created tanzanite designs from lilac blue to deep purple blue. As an exceptional group of 31 pieces, earrings and rings of natural tanzanite for a total of almost 252 carats. Equally noteworthy is a bracelet of four rows of tanzanite and rubellite composed of 78 pieces for a total of about 144 carats.
Thinking of Artemis the goddess of the earth, however, the Maison has designed a necklace with 208 emerald cabochons from Zambia and nine faceted pink tourmalines totaling almost 358 carats; a multi-row organic bracelet with 113 Zambian emerald cabochons weighing about 315 carats with a 25.65 carat rubellite. In the Pantone palette there are shades like Spring Crocus and Pink Lavender. In this spectrum of colors, Paul Wild has brought together outstanding sapphires and amethysts. Like a necklace with an earring with amethyst cabochon and navette cut stones for a total of about 190 carats with a 139 carat-shaped amethyst rose pendant. Or a suite of old cut amethyst and morganite of 47 pieces for a total of over 189 carats.
Finally, the Paraiba tourmaline. Here, then, different layouts with tourmaline: a necklace of earrings, earrings and imaginative rings consisting of 60 pieces for a total of over 108 carats, as well as a 30-carat cabochon frog carved that would have been pleasant, unique ring of its kind. From Brazil, an organic necklace and earring composed of 160 pieces for a total of about 58 carats, and a dreamy pear-shaped Paraiba of 5.7 carats for an excellent solitaire. Unique, beautiful and confident, perhaps there is no better gem than the Paraiba tourmaline for a woman who shakes her inner goddess. To watch and admire. Alessia Mongrando

The nature sight with Paul Wild’s gems

The wildlife in the extraordinary stones of Paul Wild at Baselworld 2017.
Maybe you like the jewelry with large precious stones. Maybe you have read that jewelers start at emeralds, rubies and tourmalines to draw a new gem. Or maybe you know Paul Wild. If, oddly, you have not heard, you must know that it was a German artist-dealer (now the tradition continues with Markus Wild) who has considered the stones as a painter looks at his jars of paint. And this way it is also demonstrated als with its participation at Baselworld 2017.
This year, for example, Paul Wild presents with a series of stones inspired by painting Le Rêve by Henri Rousseau, a famous painting from 1910 that has as its subject a tropical forest. A fantastic nature that the company Kirschweiler (Germany), plays with a number of stones that are already the idea of jewelry before you even get into a goldsmith laboratory. As in the case of the Paraiba tourmalines cut into butterfly, and rubellite, garnet, lapis blue, the morganite, spinel Vietnam: all extraordinary stones, often unusual, which should only be worn to become jewels out of the ordinary.
