Armani anti-shooting jewelry. The Armani Exchange brand has in fact decided to propose a collection of bracelets made with parts of guns and casings of illegal bullets in collaboration with Liberty United, a philanthropic jewelry brand that aims to reduce gun violence in the United States. The idea, however, is not new and gioiellis.com has already talked about it. The Torc bracelet (priced at 98.5 dollars), is offered in both the men’s and women’s versions. 20% of sales will be donated to financing programs aimed at reducing the use of weapons, which in the US often leads to the reckless use of pistols and rifles, as the news reports show. Armani Exchange, in addition, will donate 1 dollar to Liberty United for every tweet or Instagram where the hashtag #OpenArms is used during June 2014. Each bracelet bears the serial number of an illegal gun recycled by Liberty United, as well as the association’s motto “Remade in the USA”. “Every piece of jewelry worn represents a gun that is no longer on the street killing someone,” assures Philip Crangi, of Liberty United. Will it help? In the United States, more than 30,000 people are killed by guns every year, a third of whom are under the age of twenty. In Canada, where guns are banned, the victims killed by bullets are only 200. And in Europe, the figure is 150, while in the more civilized Japan, it is less than 50 per year.
