Haute couture and high jewellery: De Beers also took advantage of the Paris week packed with fashion shows to present its high jewellery line, called Aria. Eight unique pieces, with a protagonist, the diamond. It couldn’t have been otherwise, but what is surprising is the creative effort to enhance the central stone of each jewel, with gold ribbons that seem to swirl around the gem, selected for its light and purity. A true artistic revolution for those who have always favoured essential settings, but the experiment seems successful because the empty spaces of the openwork give a sensation of freshness and lightness. The use of metal in abundance, much more than in the past, is not the only novelty: there is the dark blue of the aventurine in contrast with the brightness of the diamonds to reinforce the concept, and it refers to the depths of the Millennium Star. In short, according to Francois Delage, CEO of De Beers Diamond Jewellers, this collection is a demonstration of the company’s great capabilities not only in mining, but also in production.
