The great vogue of Ear Wrap Crawler Hook Earrings

/

Ear Wrap Crawler Hook earrings are the 2021 trendy jewels. They are especially liked by the very young, but the fashion of wearing these elaborate jewels, which are often simple bijoux made with non-precious materials, is also spreading to other age groups. The Ear Wrap Crawler Hook earrings promise to transform the ear into an architectural base on which to wear thin metal lines, often made sparkling by crystals, cubic zirconia and (sooner or later) diamonds. These rigid metal wires cross the ear vertically and hook to the upper part of the auricle, and then cross the lobe.

Another line of metal, or other more rounded shapes, also intersect with the main element of the earring, creating irregular and often surprising shapes. In other cases, instead of a straight line, the earrings draw other shapes, such as those of a lightning bolt, or use crystals to form leaves or other shapes. The main element remains, however, the metal wire that hooks to the upper part and pierces the lower lobe. Precisely for this reason the earrings are usually made of hypo allergic material.

Pdpaola’s zodiac

//

Ever since mankind has existed, the sky has been a subject of inspiration, study and speculation. Planets, moon and stars have generated fantasies and even jewels. Like those of the new Zodiac Constellations jewelry collection, signed Pdpaola, a brand created in 2014 in Barcelona by Paola Sasplugas and her brother Humbert. As the name of the collection indicates, the jewels are inspired by the signs of the zodiac.

From the constellation of Aries to that of Pisces, the 12 zodiac signs become as many necklaces with adjustable clasps and pairs of earrings. The constellations of astrologers are represented by colored stones such as rose quartz, malachite, labradorite, lapis lazuli, tiger’s eye and white zircon, each with its own astrological meaning. The stones are enclosed in an oval, which refers to the elliptical orbits that draw the planets around the Sun. In the pair of earrings, one reproduces the constellation of the zodiac, the other the stars, with a studied asymmetrical effect.

Nina Runsdorf’s fossil opals

//

x

Nina Runsdorf, one of the most respected luxury brands in the US, started making jewelry. She started with silver working in the kitchen of her parents’ farm in upstate New York when she was 11. As an adult, she also worked as a designer for Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic, before embarking on the path of jewelry. One of her trademarks is The Flip Ring, a ring featuring a pendant composed of a pear-shaped gem. Her new collection is called Tree Opals and uses a rare mineralized wood, 15 million years old, rendered into brilliant opals, along with diamonds and rose gold.

But how can a small luxury jewelry brand survive the covid tsunami? Boutiques closed for months, distribution rests in crisis, customers closed at home … Yet the Nina Runsdorf brand in New York is an example of how you can reorganize your business. The designer, who in 2021 celebrates her Maison’s 15 years of activity, has focused on digital. And she has appointed Anne Muhlethaler, founder of the consulting firm Out of the Clouds and former communications manager of Christian Louboutin, as a consultant.

The consultant, who is based in Geneva, has helped the brand to invest heavily in social and e-commerce. In-store appointments have been replaced by video appointments on Zoom. In short: the path chosen was to take care of the website and online presence with the same attention that is normally reserved for the boutique. The cure worked.

H.Stern between gold and silk

//

Oriental architecture in Brazil. But it is not the work of an archistar who wants to surprise. It is the inspiration for the new collection of the great Maison H.Stern, which has boutiques all over the world, from the United States to Israel, from France to Russia. The new collection is called Seda (silk) and reworks the work of the silkworms in their cocoon surrounded by thin threads which are then used to make men’s suits, scarves or ties. In this case, of course, it is about gold threads, among which small diamonds shine. The design of some pieces, for example the rings, is truly unique, with gold threads that form daring architectural geometries with an oriental flavor.

In short, the Maison continues the work of its founder, Hans Stern, who passed away in 2007. The Brazilian jeweler and businessman has been dubbed the “king of colored gems” by the New York Times and acclaimed by the international media. In fact, Stern began his career in the gemstone sector when he started working at Cristab, a trading company of precious stones and minerals from Brazil. From the fascination for the gems extracted in Brazil, Stern then decided to promote them internationally and, later, to use them for high-end jewels with his own brand.

In the folds of beautiful jewelry there is also Plissé, a collection signed by Brazilian designer Carolina Neves, who uses folded surfaces to make jewelry. The jewels are in gold and precious stones, such as diamonds, or semi-precious, such as tourmaline. The folds (plissé in French), in addition to giving volume and movement to the jewel, are also very decorative when worn with earrings, necklace or ring. She met success with her amulet pendants, jewels with funny phrases, in 18K yellow gold, white and black rhodium, with noble stones such as emeralds, rubies, diamonds and tourmalines.

Born 35 years ago in SĂŁo Paulo, the designer is currently one of the most acclaimed jewelers in Brazil and sells her collections on major online shopping platforms, such as Moda Operandi, Broken English and Five Story.

Kinraden, Danish design with a bit of Africa

/

x

With Kinraden, gold and northern design are combined with African wood.

The mpingo is a small, gnarled tree that grows very slowly. Mpingo, specifically, is the Swahili name for dalbergia melanoxylon, also called the blackwood of East Africa. The trees often have multiple stems and are widely branched. They are not cut before the age of 70-100. Sarah Müllertz, former partner and global head of design at the internationally renowned Henning Larsen Architects studio in Copenhagen, turned this wood into “diamonds” for jewelery.

Anello in oro 18 carati ed elementi di mpingo

Her professional origin is reflected in design: Sarah works halfway between architecture, design and art, with a strong influence of Danish and Japanese culture. Kindred, her brand, experiments with materials, combining the usual elements, such as gold, with surprising ones, such as mpingo. The wood, however, comes from sustainable forests in Tanzania protected by the WWF. Gold is also sustainable: it is recycled and purified metal, or sterling silver.

Casa Castro, a century in color

The extraordinary jewels of Casa Castro, a Brazilian Maison founded one hundred years ago.

It is about to turn a century. But the Joalheria Casa Castro is livelier than ever. All thanks to Antonio Teixeira de Castro, the founder, born in Portugal but who became Brazilian by choice. It was 1922 when he opened his boutique in Sao Paulo. Passionate about antiques and gems, in a few years the jeweler has created a Maison, Casa Castro, which offers jewels of great value not only for the materials used, but also for the imagination and creativity. Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and many rare stones are transformed into the colorful jewels produced by the company, which is now run by Antonio Carlos de Castro Tinoco Cabral (fourth generation of the family) together with his daughters Vivi and Kika.

The two sisters design ready-to-wear jewelry, while the father looks after the high-end jewelry. The production of Casa Castro stands out for the pleasant liveliness of its collections. Jewels inspired by insects and flowers, for example, are made with skill, also with the use of the stone carving technique and even with the wings of Brazilian forest beetles.

The journey of Garaude

The journey of Garaude: the jewelry of a French through the trails that lead to the east, until to Japan.

Garaude, the French jewelry more easygoing, not close but not far from Place Vendome presents its specialty: the jewelry with colored stones and fantasy Latin. It all started with a trip in the seventies of François Garaude in Brazil, as a student of architecture and keen sailor. But the music and the colors of Salvador de Bahia, the native sculpture, and emerald mines they changed his life. Another trip to the US has served to learn the basics of gemology and jewelery techniques.

Ten years later, Garaude has returned to France to work with some great Maison, thanks also to its fine search in the Asian markets stones: rubies, sapphires, jade also in different shades, a stone that still loves today not only in the classic green tone imperial, but also white, gray, black, lavender. Instead of 50 shades of gray, he has collected the 42 shades of the spinel, from red to orange, pink to purple. After so much experience and work, in 2010 he founded his Maison Garaude (with the help of Jeanne’s daughter). The ring Byzantium or the collection dedicated to the Japanese artist Hokusai testify ancestries refined, a style between East and West, an original design. And the journey of designer is continuing.

Tiffany renews the Atlas collection with an X

////

Tiffany renews one of its most famous collections, Atlas. An X has been added to the new line. It is called, in fact, Atlas X. The collection is inspired by the graphic motif of the Roman numerals that mark the hours of Tiffany’s Atlas watch, which dates back to 1853 and is now on the facade of our flagship store on Fifth Avenue, New York. With a lace of irony, Tiffany also suggests that the new Atlas X creations, with clean and essential lines, also serve as a reminder to make good use of time. A fun warning for a company that, as often happens in the world of jewelry, defines the style of its jewels as timeless.

Within Atlas X, however, there are three different motifs: Closed, X and Open. In the Closed and Open styles, the knife-edge profiles, a Tiffany code since the introduction of the Tiffany Setting engagement ring in 1886, are pushed to an enlarged scale with a strong visual impact. The engraved Roman numerals create sharp reflections and shadows that emphasize the silhouettes. Style X features crisscross elements in a very modern way on earrings and pendants. Within the range of Closed, Open and X styles, small diamond recesses are also provided. A bangle and ring from the Atlas X line are paved with diamonds set in a honeycomb pattern that maximizes the appearance of the stones and limits the presence of metal.

High jewelery with lace for Chopard

//

A new collection, once again in the sign of fair trade diamonds: Chopard was one of the first Maison to embrace, for its jewels, the idea of materials without original sin behind it. The novelty is called Precious Lace Collection and is inspired by the favorite fabric of grandmothers, lace. Or perhaps, given the times, to great-grandmothers. The shape of the jewels, in fact, is quite elaborate, with soft lines, curves and, above all, scalloped edges that recall ancient lace. Obviously gold and diamonds, especially pear cut, are the preferred materials for the collection.

The collection was designed by Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s co-president and artistic director. The idea is to offer high jewelry that can be worn (almost) every day, at least even on normal social occasions. A not secondary aspect concerns the processing of jewelry, which is not simple: reproducing a lace effect with metal and diamonds was not easy but, on the other hand, Chopard boasts a process of making top quality jewelry. Another aspect to reiterate: the gold and the diamonds used were purchased from companies certified by the Responsible Jewelery Council.

Rubeus, high jewelry in red

//

High jewelry in red for Valentine’s Day (and beyond). On the other hand, what do you want to expect from a brand called Rubeus, a word that in Latin means red in color? And, to stay even more on the subject, the Maison based in Milan offers jewels that have large rubellite stones in the center, another name that derives from the Latin and which identifies one of the most popular red stones. The jewels were designed by the Parisian FrĂ©dĂ©ric ManĂ©, designer and consultant of the great Maison, who collaborates with international luxury groups and has a direct relationship with the famous Parisian jewelers.

Rubeus, who is only a eight years old, also has another peculiarity: he loves red and, in addition to fine jewelry, offers clothes, bags, shoes and perfumes. A bit like the great Maison like Dior or Chanel. Except that, in this specific case, Rubeus is the young invention of an equally young Russian woman, Nataliya Bondarenko, who is also the creative director. The pieces are designed and made in Milan with Italian materials for an international clientele willing to spend a lot to have something unique. The designer and entrepreneur has been in Italy for eight years, where she holds a master’s in architecture. Rubeus mainly sells in Great Britain (first partner was Harrods, Middle East and Russia.

Sarah Ho’s Precious Rays

//

Born in Macau, Chinese name, Western appearance. And she lives and works in London. But Sarah Ho‘s origins would not be important were it not for her jewels to boast that aesthetic delicacy that is often a heritage of those born in the Far East. Nothing to do, however, with that type of Chinese jewelry, even of high quality, which are infused with the country’s elaborate goldsmith tradition, perhaps in the shape of a dragon. Sarah Ho, on the other hand, chose the western path to her high jewelry, with the creative and geometric use of rare pearls, precious stones and diamonds. The jewels are created starting from a colorful sketch that she paints herself, for example the large sunburst earrings or rings from the Zelda collection, one of her latest works.

In her bio she explains that her interest in jewelry is inspired by the jewelry collections of the iconic women in her family. In any case, her passion was cultivated in a professional way, with the gemmology studio in Antwerp, which was followed by the launch, in 2006, of her company based in the Mayfair district of London. Her ethical approach to the choice of materials often leads her to use stones and pearls mounted on antique and vintage jewelry, minimizing the carbon footprint. Of course, the other stones also follow the same environmental and ethical standards.

Valentine’s Day Earrings with Marie Mas

Red is the color of passion and, by logical consequence, it is also the color of Valentine’s Day, the feast of lovers. A day that is also the jewelers’ festival, because giving a ring or earrings is an increasingly widespread sign of affection. Here, then, are special editions in view of February 14th. The French Maison Marie Mas, for example, for Valentine’s Day has prepared a series of four non-traditional earrings, to be worn separately or together, made of 18-carat rose gold and with a row of rubies with different shades of red set. The shape of the jewels is sinuous and anatomically follows the profile of the ears.

From Brazil with color. Like many other colleagues of her, Joana Salazar loves composing her jewels using colored gems, many of which are extracted in the South American country: large tourmalines, but also coral and diamonds, sapphires and emeralds. In addition, the Sao Paulo-based designer is very attentive to the compositional balance of the jewel. An attention that comes from her studies in Italy. For her education, in fact, she Joana Salazar moved to Milan, the fashion capital of Italy, where she graduated in Product Design at the Milan Polytechnic.

The Asian country, in fact, is one of the largest transformers of precious stones and offers an experience that is not only theoretical, but closer to practice. In short, she has a passion for travel, as well as for jewelry that she has loved since she was a child, over the years she has cultivated a vast international experience, which allows her a broad vision and a global aesthetic to her jewelry production.

The knots of Sophie Zamel

There are only seven earrings. But they make up a knot that becomes a reminder for the future: Sophie Zamel is a designer who can lead the way. The Free-form collection, despite the name that evokes freedom, is made up of knot-shaped earrings, with threads that draw different paths in gold in the three classic colors yellow, pink and white, to which black is added, with small diamonds. A minimal but original collection. And they’re all crafted with ethically sourced Canadian gold and diamonds. Andrew Glassford, from bank to jewelry

//

A banker with a passion for jewels. Andrew Glassford goes to the office each morning, where he occupies a prominent position: he is vice president and risk manager for small business credit at Bank of America, the banking giant of the United States. But three years ago he discovered that money isn’t everything. There is also a passion for jewelry: for years, he says, he has cut out photos of rings, bracelets and necklaces from newspapers, fascinated by design. And so, after attending the École Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris and learning about the opportunities and pitfalls of gems at Gia, she founded her Maison in Dallas, Texas. An unusual profile, but Glassford with his second job was able to convince everyone.

Anello in oro giallo, diamanti e smalto

In addition to his passion for jewelry and his poodle named Mack II, Andrew loves orchids and is an enthusiast of the Asian world, after a recent trip to China and Japan. But for his jewels he seems to have a strong predilection for art deco, with precise lines, safe geometries, enamel that separates gold and precious stones. Who would have thought that a banker could have such a profound aesthetic sensibility?

Amazing Gaelle Khouri

/

The view nature through a gothic lens, with an eclectic style that has wowed: it is the Gaelle Khouri’s jewelry.

Among Lebanon and Britain, London, Gaelle Khouri has learned that in life you must first of all have fun, I mean be themselves. So she left the world of Finance, after graduating in economics and a master’s degree, to devote himself to jewelry. Also because of an internship by Oscar de la Renta, in New York. Freed from the anxiety-inducing world of money, he has returned to his country of origin, Lebanon, and began studying jewelry design, at Elie Saab. Her debut is been brilliant. Her jewels are eclectic, fun, unconventional.

But perhaps the biggest compliment you can make to this designer is to have a sense of humor: rare gift as a four leaf clover in the jewelry world (and beyond). Look at his earrings Self-portrait, which have the shape of fish bones, made of rose gold, burnished silver, white and brown diamonds. Among other things, she does not look like nothing to a fish bone, but it’s pretty nice. Including a Gothic style, but also with a hyperrealism that leads her to play fruit, flowers or animals, the jewels of his first collection, The Garden of Earthly Delights, divided into Couture and Casual lines, surprised everyone. And it is only the beginning. Recently, the designer also introduced a line of wedding rings, naturally with surprising shapes, with a combination of oval and baguette diamonds, extreme angles and an aggressive volume. Titanic Margherita Burgener

//

Handcrafted and high jewelry, made in Italy: it is that of Margherita Burgener, admired and appreciated all over the world, also thanks to the precious use of titanium ♦ ︎

The passion of Margherita Burgener for jewelry begins in the atelier of her future husband, in Valenza: in the homeland of high Italian jewelry, Burgener discovers precious stones and jewelery making. Then she begins to approach to jewelry design and since her first creation in 2003 has never stopped. Today her unique pieces are beaten in Important Jewels auctions at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Bonhams, while from 2011 she draws small limited edition collections. Yellow gold, white, red or pink shades, are the chromatic base to exalt shapes and stones, but she also likes to experience new materials such as titanium. In fact, features such as light weight and ability to create a wide range of color shades make it one of his favorite metal.

Match different earrings in 4 moves

/

Wear different earrings: you can. Here are the tips on how to wear different earrings with success ♦

Have you lost half of a pair of your favorite or precious earrings and sadly wondered what to do with the surviving earring? Well, you are in luck. On the red carpet, there have been many unmatched pairs of jewels. Not only in the ears of the stars, but also in the shows of big names in French fashion, from Dior to Louis Vuitton to CĂ©line. Fortunately, it is not necessary to be a model or an actress to be able to afford to mix circles, solitaires and chandeliers without inducing others to assume that you have dressed in the dark. Indeed, to have an original look here are four simple tips.

1 Use the same metal

Gold with gold, silver with silver, copper with copper … better to wear jewelry made with the same metal, even if different shades. Nuances, however, not the colors: in general, it is better not to choose, for example, to wear rose gold with yellow gold. More freedom, however, in the choice of glazes and stones. Everything is simpler, however, if the earrings are small in size: in this case you will notice less possible not nice pairings.

2 Long live the contrast

Another way to wear different earrings is to focus on the contrast. For example, punk style along with romantic style. A steel horn or fake tortoise with a classic stone, a safety pin with a pearl, or a skull with a flower. In short, contrasting symbols, shapes that screech, even opposite colors: the important thing is that they notice. But, of course, do a mirror test first: ok to diversity, but the opposites must have a pleasant effect.

3 Look for singles

Now many jewelry companies also sell single earrings: a good starting point for those who want to wear different earrings and spend less. In this case you can opt for an earring of great value, while on the other ear you can wear a less expensive jewel, provided you know how to combine it well. An piece with a pendant, for example, is fine with another stud earring.

4 The game of couples

Buy the various sets of fashion jewelry in the big clothing chains and mix them: they are cheap and are designed for this. It’s the easiest way to try a new look. In this case you can wear together, with a strange mix, even very distant brands, such as Armani and Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci and Ferragamo. Monica Battistoni

The earrings that count calories

/

When it’s time to shed your weight, consider measuring the amount of calories you can burn. As? Wearing a pair of earrings. Here are the earrings capable of measuring the calories that your body (and not only) burns ♦

Earrings capable of measuring the heartbeat and suggesting how many calories have been consumed during a run or walk: if you would like to have them you can buy them online here. O-Smart earrings have been designed starting from one observation: the lobe is a part of the body that is good for measuring heart rate. Not only that: the earrings use sensors to measure and to detect physical activity and energy expenditure. Basically, these are small electronic elements that combine with the earrings you have in your drawer.

Ear-O-Smart, the Canadian company that produces them, specifies that the system is patent pending. Sensors inside the small device allow you to monitor your heart rate, calorie consumption and activity level. Without compromising the style of the wearer. Smart earrings use Bluetooth 4.0 technology to synchronize with your smartphone, Android or iPhone system. In short, they have a function similar to the bracelets that are used by those who play sports, such as Jawbone UP3 or Fitbit.
