Paint, the color of Francesca Mo

Brushstrokes of color that become jewels, or vice versa. It is the inspiring motif of Paint, a collection by the Milanese designer Francesca Mo (they are on display at the Galleria Subert in Milan until December 22, 2022) together with other collections. The designer, who is also an architect, has always used color to characterize her collections, such as those inspired by glass frosted by the waves of the sea. And the Paint collection also uses glass to compose pendants and brooches.

The jewels are made of lampworked glass, i.e. flamed. The traditional technique of the Murano glass masters consists in using the flame of a torch, which melts the glass to create their own sculptures, in this case to be worn. The result is brooches and pendants which, precisely because of the particular manufacturing technique, are unique pieces with a shape that recalls a thick colored liquid about to pour. The glass element is supported by bronze or gold wires. Prices: from 490 euros for the brooch and from 1,000 euros for the necklace.

Francesca Mo Only for you

/

Francesca Mo returns to the Subert gallery in Milan (via della Spiga 42) for an exhibition of her jewels (10 November-22 December from Tuesday to Friday from 11 to 18, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays by appointment). The gallery, a space reserved for furniture, art objects and vintage collectibles, is the usual place for the Milanese architect and designer who has been involved in jewelry for years. Francesca Mo, daughter of the sculptor Carlo Mo, in fact, started inventing jewels only through materials that have a history, such as glass pebbles worked by the sea, remains of watches, sands, slabs of semiprecious stones.

More than the materials used (plexiglass, bronze, silver and gold), fantasy and the desire to choose a path radically different from that of traditional jewelery, as in the Only for You and Hover jewelery series, in bronze, are important to the designer. and silver, with white or colored cubic zirconia.

The hidden joys of Francesca Mo

//

Francesca Mo, Milanese architect and designer, presents the new jewelry collections for summer 2021. The sea and its poetic connections are among the fixed points of her creations, like the series of jewels with frosted glass like those found on the beach (when there is no plastic). Only For You is the name of a new series of rings, bracelets and pendants in which the stones are protected inside the jewel. The jewels are in bronze, silver and gold, which enclose natural or synthetic stones. A plate fixed to the main body of the jewel through a tiny mechanism, allows the partial opening or total closure of classic or black diamonds, natural or synthetic rubies and sapphires, cubic zirconia. Prices range from 340 to 900 euros for rings with diamond, sapphire or natural ruby.

Broken lines, stories to wear and pendants that look like candy: the novelties of Francesca Mo ♦ ︎
Broken lines and new stories, with a bit of ice. Francesca Mo, light and fantastic designer, presents a new collection and new proposals of the most successful lines. The Broken Line collection plays on wavy or rigid lines. The materials used are yellow gold, white gold or bronze. The earrings are available in two models: with three circles to form a pendant, or two circles mounted together, one inside the other. There are also two rings. The first remembers the movement of the sea and is completed when combined with another piece. The rings are available in three materials (gold, silver and copper). There is also a ring that plays on the shape of the rim (this is pretty obvious), but with the overlapping distance of two golden bands. Prices starting from 120 euro.
To the Tales collection (see also How many stories with Francesca Mo) are added the composition The frog and the crown (but not counted on the transformation into prince) in plexiglass , bronze, silver and gold. Prices: plexiglass 30 euro, bronze and silver 100 euro.
Finally, the Giaccio collection is also renamed (see also A little ice for Francesca Mo). The pendants, with a slightly irregular shape, look like orange, green, black and red candies, handmade with matt or glossy finish. Materials: 18 carat gold and gold. price: 200 euro. Lavinia Andorno

Milan Unchained

Chains, chains, chains: 150 jewelry made with interlaced rings in the exhibition Scatenata (Unchained), in Milan.
If you love jewelry made with chains, Homi has opened in Milan Scatenata (Unchained), exhibition of 150 pieces made of intersecting circles. It would have been strange if the show had not been curated by Alba Cappellieri, a professor of Jewellery Design and the Attachment to the Politecnico di Milano, already active in the Museum of the Jewel of Vicenza. The chains on display have the most varied backgrounds: they are made by artisans, artists, designers and established brands. They are the result of goldsmith skills, but also of use of innovative materials, by hand or by machine. And for the uninitiated, the chain there is not just one type. It can be groumette, marinara, crossbar, belcher, forzatina, drip, ear, or bracket. All on exhibition.

How many stories with Francesca Mo

Rings and earrings that are offered as ideas to create stories: the Tales collection of Francesca Mo.
Rings, earrings and stories to tell. Francesca Mo, architect and designer from Milan, has designed a collection that incorporates the design themes of his most classic production: the square shapes, the references to childhood, craft making and sculpture. No coincidence that the designer is the daughter of the sculptor Carlo Mo. To present the collection Tales, she has chosen, as usual, the Subert gallery. But why jewels become Tales? Because, explains the designer, jewel-sculptures are ‘open’ to the imagination. They are like little pictures with characters who add a balloon, a cloud that contains a thought. Choosing more than one jewel, in short, you can compose an entire story. More than the used materials (plexiglass, bronze, silver and gold) it’s important the imagination and the desire to choose a radically different path from that of traditional jewelery. The jewelry with incorporated narrative were divided into two groups: Wintertime and Summertime. The miniature subjects that are part of it are the character that those who buy the jewel can create with imagination. In the line dedicated to winter there are bears, snow-covered houses and huts and on white-transparent shades. The line inspired by the summer, however, you feel the smell of the sea, with small boats, a heart floating on the waves, but also a little snake. Price of earrings and rings: from 100 to 180 Euros. Each collection uses different materials: Pop, for example, color earrings square or round with plexiglass, wire gold 18k. Moody plays with the messages, like the rings Yes or No, with a rotating plate, for those who do not want to waste words. Lilliput, finally, is betting everything on minimalism. Prices. For the collection Pop: earrings with 1 symbol: 120 euro; earrings with 2 symbols: 180 euro; square earrings great: 150 Euros. Rings Yes or No: from 250 Euros (bronze and silver).
