Limitless Gabriela Rigamonti

The jewels of Gabriela Rigamonti, manager, designer and globetrotter ♦ ︎

To say that Gabriela Rigamonti is dynamic is an understatement. On its website, for example, it is written that “her tireless instinct to always look for novelties to propose, pushes her to create over 500 new models a year, which meet the needs of the most diverse international markets”. Half a thousand new jewels in 12 months is an activity rate that should be reported Guinnes Book of Records.

In any case, the style of her brand, born in Vicenza in 2000, is affected by her globetrotter vocation: she describes herself as the fruit of a multicultural family (the brothers and the family live in four different countries), and therefore she is used to to travel. She speaks four languages and, she says, is learning two more. She attended art history courses in Florence, marketing in the USA and design in Milan. In 1995, at the age of 26, she decided to settle in Vicenza where ahe started working as manager and designer for a large jewelry company. And this is another reason that prompted her to travel around the world. All this experience accumulated in a short time, combined with the energy charge and a strong sensitivity, promptly pushed her brand to be distributed in 24 countries of the world. But it can also be purchased online.

Helena Thulin’s special flowers

/

Being green is not only fashionable, but also a necessity to save the world from climate change. Also for this reason, flowers and plants are a symbol of a sensitivity to the environment, which the young designer Helena Thulin has decided to interpret in an original way. Her jewelry, in silver and Swarovski crystals, is largely inspired by flowers and plants with a naturalistic style. Earrings and necklaces are inspired by the different varieties of botanical species and each jewel has the name of a flower.

In short, they recall the originals in nature, or they transform the plant geometries into new strange plants. Helena Thulin, considered a designer she loves to experiment with, followed courses at the Studio Berçot fashion school in Paris. She also worked for Chloé, Sonia Rykiel and Simone Rocha before turning to jewelry with her own brand in 2018. Even if the materials used are not particularly precious, the original design, the design and the thematic proposal make Helena Thulin’s bijoux something new. She works in her atelier in Paris.

Sarah Noor, minimal made in London

The minimal, but elegant and colorful jewels of the London Maison Sarah Noor

At just 26 years old, in 2014, the British designer Sarah Alhassan gave birth to her brand, Sarah Noor. She also opened a boutique in London and managed to get accepted in some prestigious online stores. In short, in a few months you have achieved a goal that others reach in years or never. Whatever her secret weapons are for a flash career, it must be noted that Sarah Alhassan has no shortage of skills to present herself on the jewelry market. The design is modern, linear, but without forgetting the charm of colored stones as well as classic diamonds. She herself explained that she starts from the classic jewel models and then makes the lines simpler and more minimal.

The two collections of her debut, Pretty Little Things and Pyramid, are still the ones receiving acclaim. The idea is to offer precious jewels, but also suitable for everyday life, thanks to the not too showy character of the design. Lucid, on the other hand, is a capsule collection created with a glass-like resin, set with cubic zirconia stones positioned in a linear design of a circle silhouette, which the designer considers “an exploration of kaleidoscopic elements of a dream world and of natural composition of light “.

The 10 jewels that every woman should have

What are the jewels that every woman should have? Here are the ten jewels to close in the drawer: sooner or later they will be the right ones to wear ♦ ︎

There are items of clothing that every woman must have ready in the closet: a dark dress for the evening, a suit of jacket and skirt / pants for formal occasions, a silk handkerchief to wipe away the tears in front of the last romantic movie. In the same way, there are jewels that should not be missing in the box from which in the morning you choose what to wear. Of course, there are jewels that go well every day, not binding: to go to the office or go shopping, for a walk or drink tea with friends. But there are many occasions in life when, often, a jewel makes the difference. So, before buying another jewel, read this article. Here are the ten jewels that can not miss in your collection.

1 Cocktail ring

Large, showy, colorful: these rings are so called because they wore at the years of Prohibition, in America. Women were also secretly drinking cocktails (and not only), and they accentuated the transgression by wearing very showy rings. Even today on the occasion of a party, a moment of sociability, celebrations (but not in official ceremonies) are indicated cocktail rings, which are noticed even when the atmosphere is crisp and confusing.

2 Hoop earrings

In gold, simple: the hoop earrings are among the oldest jewels, but if they still like today there is a reason. The round earrings, in fact, are good for any occasion and practically with every clothing. But, be careful: the size and the thickness of the earrings must be well proportioned to the size and shape of the visa. A pair of large earrings worn by a small woman of stature and with a round face, will seem hopelessly disproportionate. In contrast, very small hoop earrings, which just surround the earlobe, will be little appreciated on a very long face, perhaps on a woman with a height above the average.

3 Earrings with diamonds

Well yes: the simple diamond stud earrings, worn together with a dark suit, an evening dress, are a touch that makes a perfect gala dinner, but also an official occasion, in which you have to look elegant. An advantage of these earrings is that the diamonds are a little less visible than those mounted on a ring or necklace. You can also choose stones of a mediocre quality: hardly anyone will notice it.

4 Necklace with pendant

Sooner or later a necklace with pendant finds its ideal location: the dress with or without neckline, but which is enhanced thanks to the jewel. The pendant, however, must be appropriate: not too big, with the risk of turning into a pendulum when walking. But not too small to be almost invisible. A necklace pendant must have a shape that remains etched, it is noted, without being bizarre. One idea is to collect pendants with the same subject (a flower, an animal, a ring).

5 Cuff bracelet

A bracelet that covers the wrist can become the winning idea when wearing a shirt or a shirt without sleeves or with short sleeves. Enhance the arms, hands and probably even the bank account of the jeweler who sells it. Yes, because the bracelet is a special piece: if it is not excellent it risks becoming a jewel that weighs down, cluttered, out of place. A tip: even if the cuff is a gem to have, do not buy it if you have big wrists. In that case it is better to stay on very thin and light bracelets.

6 Pearl necklace

Exact: a pearl necklace. That classic, timeless, boring string of pearls. Do you think you will never wear it? Mistake. Will arrives a day when the line of simple pearls, not too small and not too big, solves the problem of the jewel-dress combination. On a shirt and blue jeans, on a gray or blue suit, on a fancy dress: a string of pearls never disappoints, especially if you have to present yourself with a certain elegance. Okay, maybe it’s not a necklace you’ll wear every day, but a pearl necklace is like a lifeboat donut: it’s necessary.

7 The sautoir

In other words, a thin and long, very long necklace with one or more turns. The sautoir had its moment of glory in the twenties of the last century, and then repeatedly came back into fashion, until it became a classic jewel. You can decide your own style, but a sautoir in gold, with small stones or pearls, is a gem worth two. In the sense that a long sautoir can be rolled around the wrist to be easily transformed into a bracelet. Remember, however, that the sautoir lengthens the appearance of the body. If you are already tall and thin lean a sautoir could harm your look.

8 Solitaire

If you have already got it, you already have it. But if no one proposed marriage to you while holding a white gold ring with a small or large diamond, then it is appropriate that you provide by yourself. Showing off a solitaire ring, that is, with a single gleaming diamond, is not just an aesthetic choice: it is a message to the competition. When it is time, sometimes it is necessary to let people know that there are people in the world who want you, so much so that they commit themselves to pay a substantial sum to buy a diamond ring and give it to you.

9 Brooch

Ok, until recently, brooch was synonymous with grandma. It was a past fashion jewel, which tasted of old. It’s not like that anymore. From some years the brooch has rightly returned to the necessary jewels. A dress a little anonymous can reborn thanks to a fun and precious brooch. Animals, flowers, emoji: the choice is free, provided that the jewel is not of little value, but that witnesses a good goldsmith’s ability of those who created it.

10 Chain necklace

As old as the world, as young as the many stars that wear it: a simple gold chain is a solution to complete many outfits. But when one says chain, one does not indicate a single, precise jewel: in reality there are many different types and it is necessary to choose the one that best suits one’s style and, above all, the shape of the body. The short, heavy chains with wide rings are not recommended for those who do not have adequate height and a long form. Thinner and longer, but without exaggeration, for women who are less tall. Pay attention to the weight: the chains of the past became rather annoying if worn for a long time. Today, however, it is easier to find little heavy.

The softness of Pasquale Bruni with Ama Feel

Ama (he or she loves), voice of the verb to love. And Pasquale Bruni really loves jewels. The Ama collection, which consists of jewels with the shape of four leaves in gold and diamonds, has just been enriched with a variant: the Ama Feel line. The feeling, in this case, softens in a typical style of the Maison of Valenza, with the elements that make up the jewels that are transformed into sinuous waves, dunes or oceans. A particular work on the pavé, conceived by the artistic director Eugenia Bruni, has allowed the diamonds to follow the soft curve of the jewel, with a particularly attractive effect.

More precisely, white gold and white diamonds, or yellow gold and white diamonds, and pink gold with white and champagne diamonds. In addition to the boutiques and physical stores of the Maison, the jewels were also presented in a trunk show for Moda Operandi.

Choose the perfect earrings

The characteristics that must have the earrings to be perfect. Here’s how to choose the right earrings ♦ ︎

What are the most beautiful earrings in circulation? Obviously it is a question that can not be answered correctly. It depends on the tastes, style and, above all, the possibility of spending each one. You can, however, select the ideal models to inspire yourself. In short, perhaps the most luxurious earrings are unattainable for many, but they can become points of reference for those who have decided to buy, or give away, this gem. An example: the Pyramis earrings by Picchiotti, in white gold and diamonds for over 7 carats, are an exceptional jewel. But, of course, it is not easy to get such a result.

Pyramis earrings by Picchiotti
Pyramis earrings by Picchiotti

Any case, in order for a pair of earrings to be really successful, it must match these requirements:

  • Balance: it is important that the earrings have the right proportion between the different parts that compose them, as in a pictorial composition.
  • Lightness: it is useless to buy beautiful earrings, if after a couple of hours the ears are sore.
  • Visibility: the earrings are worn to be admired. If you have long hair, which covers the ears, better to choose larger models, which can be observed through the hair.
  • Brilliance: sparkling earrings are more noticeable than those made of opaque materials. One more reason to often polish earrings made exclusively of gold or silver.
  • Anallergicity: pay attention to the metal used for the earrings. Anyone suffering from nickel allergy will do well to ascertain before the alloy used for the jewel. Hooks and clips, in fact, are never in pure gold (24 carats). In any case, choose a pair of earrings that fits the shape of the face. We talked about it here.

Stud earrings. Impossible not to have at least one pair of earrings of this type in the drawer. Essential for those with small ears and short hair, perfect for any type of ceremony, discreet but elegant. The button ones with diamonds represent the discreet luxury of the classy woman. In what form? It doesn’t matter – as long as they’re not too small or too big for the shape and size of your ears.

Pearl earrings. Button or pendants, chandeliers or together with other gems: pearl earrings are a jewel that endures over the centuries for the purity of the material and simplicity. And if once pearl earrings were associated with an adult, elegant, formal woman, today they are also worn with blue jeans. Indeed, a less conventional combination makes the contrast stand out more.

Hoop earrings. The simplest of geometric shapes, the circle, is also the oldest type of earrings. Also in this case it is good to keep in mind what the shape of your face and ears is: the hoop earrings must be proportionate to your height and build. You choose whether to wear simple yellow gold hoops, or earrings that play with this shape by adding stones, diamonds or color.

Chandelier earrings. They are not for everyone: these earrings catalyze the eye on a part of the body, ears and neck. Those with a short and rather thick neck probably prefer to avoid drawing attention to an imperfect proportion. Conversely, large chandelier drop earrings (French word for chandelier) are perfect for those with a round face, but an elongated neck. However, they are challenging earrings, not recommended to combine them with large and showy necklaces.

Drop earrings. With colored stones, diamonds, gold: earrings of this type can be beautiful, but also very ugly. It depends on the proportions decided by the designer. They offer a pleasant movement to the eye, but they don’t have to turn the wearer into a Christmas tree. In short, they must be chosen with care.

Earcuff. The earrings that follow the contour of the ears, as well as all the other variants, were born as non-conformist, almost punk jewels and, in any case, for very young women. As is always the case, this form of earring has already turned into a classic also adopted by high jewelery houses. In short, no fear of wearing a jewel of this type even if you are over 30 years old. Rather, keep in mind that if you choose earcuffs and the like you also need to know how to wear them.

Earcuff.

Almasika magic shells

/

African shells are transformed into gold and diamond jewelry. With inspiration from the ancient rites of the black continent ♦

Africa and diamonds are a natural combination. But African designers with the experience and the taste for working in the West are just a few: these include Catherine Sarr, born and raised in France but originally from Benin, who then chose to live and work in London. Before founding Almasika, he worked for several luxury brands, including De Beers. The Catherine passion for jewelry goes hand in hand with a fascination for the traditional designs of his country of origin. Almasika is the result of this ambivalence.

The name comes from Almasi, the Swahili word which means diamond, and Sika, which means gold in various West African languages. An example was his first collection, The Cauri Endiamanté, which takes the shape of a shell, a classic shell, the cowry. This shell was once a symbol of prosperity, spirituality and fertility: has been used for ornaments and even as currency in several African kingdoms, becoming synonymous with wealth and fortune. And yet they are used by diviners, or worn as a talisman. In this case, however, they also are an appreciable jewels made with gold and diamond.

Sarah Hendler, West Coast jewelry

/

In Los Angeles the eclectic Sarah Hendler designs and produces really original jewelries ♦ ︎

America’s jewels companies are virtually divided into two: on the one hand, New York, with its avant-garde designers or classic brands with decades of history behind, and Los Angeles and Hollywood, where jewelery brands are largely the first generation. Among them is Sarah Hendler, who climbed the high-end jewelery steps with two special sources of inspiration: the grandmothers. Her main collections are, in fact, called as her grandmothers, Shirley and Ethel. They, she say, have had a huge influence on the initial interest in jewels. Grandmothers of style, ahead of time, modern and, above all, able to teach love for beautiful and jewels.

But not only: With a husband who owns restaurants, she dont hids to have invested energy in the catering industry, as well as in the gadgets, especially vintage ones. Now, however, he dedicates himself entirely to the jewels, with his first complete collections presented in the fall of 2016.

Anil Arjandas, followers and earrings

Bracelets, rings and earrings by Anil Arjandas, designer of Indian origin based in Dubai ♦

Indian origin, flagship store in Dubai: Anil Arjandas has found his way into the world of jewelry thanks to some choices, such as using black gold, brown and black diamonds, already in his first collection, in 2000. His popularity, a to be honest, it is also due to Instagram, in which he appears in first person, also thanks to his model appearance: he has become a star with 951,000 followers (for now). In jewelry, in particular, he established himself with the production of bracelets, both for women and for men, so much so that he then expanded the production to include watches as well. But not only that: his jewels are often made with semi-precious colored stones, such as chrysoprase, agate, but also with ruby root.

In 2016 Arjandas renewed the brand, with the addition of bracelets, rings and earrings in 18-karat white gold and white diamonds to its catalog. But his specialty remains stones with unusual cuts and black gold, as in the collection which includes a series of earrings designed to be a gift for special occasions. The teardrop, shuttle or irregular surfaces are repeated even for three, in the case of some pendants.

Alunno’s line

Fringes, wires and silver chains for making jewelery of great impact: it’s Alunno & Co’s proposal ♦ ︎
Producing jewelry on behalf of third parties, with the satisfaction of making chains, earrings, necklaces ready to be worn, such as the pieces of the Link collection: Alunno & co has a long tradition among the protagonists of jewelry and metalworking in Tuscany, in Arezzo . It was born in 1977 and has become a consolidated reality, led by Mario Alunno, who continues the family tradition.

Jewelery is interpreted with an almost-fashioned vision: for example, with long earrings made up of small silver chains, or in large necklaces, even in this case made by playing on metal threads, in a key 1970s. They are jewels that point to the impact of metal, the charm of the old, dear, gold that is the symbol of jewelery for millennia. Not surprisingly, in the Etruscan tombs found in Tuscany, jewelry has been found that somehow are linked to this ancient tradition. And Alunno goes on this way.

Margot McKinney the queen of the opal

/

From Australia to the United States: exceptional pearls and opals are the work tools of Margot McKinney ♦ ︎

In Australia it is an authority and not just as a jeweler. Margot McKinney has also a certain political influence: she supports the liberals and gave the former Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop, a pair of earrings that caused a sensation. But apart from that, Margot is also a woman who represents the fourth generation of jewelers. And from Australia she has quickly embarked on the road to the United States: its jewels are distributed by Neiman Marcus and a network of independent boutiques throughout the country.

To make Margot McKinney so popular is her ability to select stones and to combine them often with pearls.

In fact, Australia is a country where high quality colored stones are found and it is also a region where a large part of cultured pearls comes from. Among the stones, of course, a place of honor is occupied by opals, among the most beautiful stones in the land of kangaroos. And the combination with the South Sea pearls, among the most beautiful in the world, is often a winner. In the true sense of the word: a collection of jewels with South Sea pearls and precious and colorful gemstones has been awarded with the Prix de Marie Claire for the best Australian jewel in March 2011 and the Haute Joaillerie prize at the biennial International Opal Jewelery Awards in 2009.

How to wear maxi earrings

Maxi earrings are fashionable. But how to wear them? And how to choose maxi suitable earrings? Here are the right advice ♦ ︎

Maxi earrings are fashionable, but they are not for everyone. First of all, you need to have the right body. Maxi earrings are banned to women too low or with a few extra pounds. The maxi earrings, in short, should not highlight the flaws, but enhance the merits, attract attention to the face with an irresistible appeal. And they must also be proportionate to the size and the build: do not wear them if they touch the shoulders, they can get caught up in the dress. Better to give up wearing jewelry that causes a comic effect, right?

The most important advice, however, is not about volume, but about weight. Eh, yes, before buying them pay close attention to the weight. To wear earrings for an entire evening they must be light, not annoying. Too heavy earrings can become torture on an evening and end up being taken off before returning home. And, then, what were they good for?

There is also another, more serious aspect of earrings that are too heavy. In fact, some doctors have warned women about this aspect: earrings that are too large and heavy can cause irritation to the lobes. But not only that: in some cases, causing worse troubles. For example, if the maxi earrings cause scratches or injuries to the ears and, in the long run, also deform the earlobe.

Another important point is the quality of the jewel. Often the maxi earrings are nothing more than costume jewelery, fun to wear, but of an uncertain quality. If you suffer from irritation or nickel allergy, pay attention to the material with which the earrings are made: they could cause discomfort and reactions to the skin.

In any case, the maxi earrings have been chosen by many celebrities on the red carpet and catwalks, on the occasion of awards and gala dinners. Maxi earrings are almost a social obligation, even if the shape of the jewels is left to personal taste. Pendants with precious stones, or shimmering gold: the important thing is that they are also visible from a highway overpass. Just take a look at the images: from Monica Bellucci to Meryl Streep, from Miley Cyrus to Jessica Chastain, all of them have chosen to wear large, showy earrings. Of course, at the end of an evening they can be a bit tiring to wear, but the result is guaranteed.

The line of jewels with the motif of the stars includes necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings: all with the geometric shape with four or eight points. The jewels are made of 925 sterling silver, in some cases blackened, or with a yellow or pink gold finish. Glass-ceramic and synthetic stones are also applied to the metal, for example inspired by spinel or the classic white or colored cubic zirconia.

Guide to new trendy earrings

Strange forms, new names: learn to recognize the different types of trendy earrings. Quick guide ♦

Have you ever wanted to buy earrings on Etsy, Asos or eBay and feel a bit confused between earcuff, wrap-around and wire? Blame vocabulary: once there were only three models of the jewel more loved by women, stud, hoop and pendant. Then, came the chandelier, an elaborate variation of cascading earrings, but nothing has been the same again after the appearance of the ear cuff.

And so for a few years every season here comes a new version, with a few more details, maybe a little wire on the back of the lobe, or an item that dangles in front and behind, or chains that make the first earcuff seem a traditional object. Here is a glossary with the explanation of each style, taking into account the real novelty are ear jackets, while the most embellishing are climbing earrings. If they are also a bit pendant, is the ultimate trendy.

Earcuff band Will appeal to those who faints at the sight of the needle because it is the only model of earrings that does not require piercing: in fact it comes to bands decorated with stones or thin opened circles to overlap along the top of ear. And often they cost less than all the others.

Ear chain Modern bohemian, is very Coachella style (the musical event that takes place in late April in Indio, California) with its chain that starts from the top of the lobe and goes to end in the piercing. You can match it with more ear band cuff stacked on cartilage.

1 Ileana Makri, orecchino ear cuff in oro rosé 18kt con diamanti, zaffiri e tsavorite. 2 Lara Bohinc, orecchini con rodio.

Ear jackets Similar to wrap around as a concept, these earrings are focused in the lobe and have a front end that can be a stud or a horizontal bar and something more intricate and the real highlight comes out from the back and hugs the curve of the lobe as a semicircle.

1 Niko Koulis, oro nero 18 carati diamanti blu. 2 Perlota, oro bianco e giallo18 carati e ovali con diamanti bianchi pendenti. 3 Sidney Evan, accessorio per ear jacket in oro giallo 14 carati e diamanti grigi. 4 Ca&Lou, metallo e strass colorati.

Ear stud double sided Variation on the theme: the form is replicated on the back in a bigger size. Wear it with other models.

1 Vita Fede, ottone placcato oro e cristalli Swarovski. 2 Yoko London, orecchini in oro rosa e diamanti con due perle Tahiti grigie. 3 Dior Tribale, orecchini in palladio con pavé di cristalli grigi e perla ricoperta in resina rosa.

Ear stud hoop Neither fish nor fowl, you might say. And, instead, are a combination of the two that makes a classic hyper modern: the button front and the unfinished circle that extends from the back.

1 Luxory Fashion, metallo e cristalli Swarovski. 2 Maria Francesca Pepe, ottone e strass. 3 CZ by Kenneth Jay Lane, ottone e zirconi.

Ear wire It is a jewel that requires a piercing with a wire which passes behind the ear to be well positioned along the cartilage. The result is a jewel looking ethereal, delicate and floating.

1 Perlota, oro bianco 18 carati e diamanti bianchi. 2 Cristina Ortiz, oro rosa 9 carati e diamanti brown. 3 Sophie Bille Brahe, oro giallo 18 carati e pietre multicolore.

Ear wrap-around More elaborate than their cousins, is wrapped behind the ear with an end hanging from the front on top of the ear and another, often more conspicuous or larger and with a greater amount of stones, which comes out from the back at the bottom of the earlobe.

Power to the geometry with Kova

/

The strong, geometric and unusual lines of Kova’s jewels, inspired by the artistic current of Russian Suprematism ♦

Inspired by the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich: Katie Kova is a young designer from Moscow who lives in London and offers jewelry with strong and clean lines that seem to be inspired by the current artist called Suprematism. Those of Kova are jewels with geometric structures that seem to come from the drawings of abstractionists, but also from rationalist architectures, with black pavé diamonds on blackened gold, triangles and squares that intersect, curves that surprise: the Russian designer is only 32 years old, but she is talented and can express movement with a few strokes of metal.

“Jewelry used to be an investment,” explains Katie Kova. “Now it is an accessory to wear. The sector is going through a transformation: there are not only the big jewelry houses, there are also independent brands”. The designer says she wants to create jewelry for young, international and informed women. Her Collection 1 debuted in 2015 with eight pieces in Paris during summer fashion week, since then others followed.

The metals that are friends for the skin

Guide to Choosing the right metal for earrings and piercings ♦

Navel, the nasal septum, and, of course, the ears: earrings and piercings can be the kind of jewelry that you prefer, but have contraindications. Your skin, in fact, sometime could not tolerate the contact with some types of metal. How to know? For starters, if your skin turns black when you wear jewelry in silver or other metals, it is likely that you are allergic to nickel, element used very often alloyed with other. This problem can become more serious if the metal comes into contact with parts of the body irritated, or worse, not be fully healed. Here are some tips to prevent an earring or a piercing become an annoying problem.

The first rule is: choose safe metals.
To a piercing the better surgical steel (that is, Surgical Stainless Steel, with the initials SSS). This metal has several advantages: lasts a long time, it does not react with bodily fluids. It is distinguished by the initials 316L or 316LVM. Caution, however: this steel contains a small percentage of nickel. Those who are allergic can choose a more expensive product, but safer: titanium. It is a super-resistant metal and, usually, contains only small amounts of nickel. Among other things, you can also find in different colors. Another preferred metal is niobium. It is little known, but it is recommended for those suffering from allergies and is also less expensive than titanium. If you own a skin sensitive to contact with any metal, you can fall back on the Tygon, a surgical plastic that can be used for the piercing.

Attention to these metals.
Silver: never wear silver jewelry, earrings or piercings if the skin is not completely healed. Sterling is composed for 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent for by another metal, usually copper. This metal is added because it makes the most durable silver, but copper can cause allergic reactions. In addition, the Sterling silver oxidizes when in contact with body tissues and fluids.
Bijoux: not worn inexpensive jewelry, with metals that use amounts of nickel, if the hole in the on ear lobes in other parts of the body is not perfectly healed.

Gold plated jewelry: usually plating is very, very thin. The sweat or friction with the skin can eliminate the plating in a short time, and the skin is in contact with the underlying metal.
Gold: a piercing better to choose what to 14 and 18K. The reason is simple: pure gold, that is 24 carat, is very soft and could allow the microbes to more easily lurk. Beware, though: gold in 18 or 14 karat is an alloy with other metals, often nickel, palladium and copper. Then it can cause allergies. Remember: the 24 carat gold is pure, what 18 carat consists of 18 parts pure gold and 6 parts of other metals, the 14-carat from 14 parts pure gold and 10 parts other metals, and so on.

The new balloons with diamonds by Vhernier

Although the smartphone has become the favorite game of children, the old balloon that floats in the air tied to a thread is still (fortunately) something that attracts those who have not yet learned the gestures on the screen of an iPhone or the like. This resilience is also testified by Vhernier, that has been offering Palloncino (balloon) as a collection for many years now. Unlike the aerostatic balloon, however, the jewels of the Balloon collection are appreciated by a more adult age

In any case, the design of the Maison’s jewels is particularly appreciated, so much so that periodically Vhernier proposes it always new variants. This year, for example, a diamond pavé version arrives. The new jewelry includes ring and earrings, both available in white or black diamond pavé on white gold. Furthermore, the Palloncino ring has an ergonomic shape that allows you to wear two rings on the same finger, in opposite directions. The earring, sold individually, can be combined with a model made with diamonds of the same color but is also suitable for creating the black and white couple.

The sustainable jewels of Tejen

Sustainable jewels of refined design: these are the ones proposed by Tejen ♦ ︎

Isabel Encinias and Mark Kroeker met in Paris in the 1990s. Now they say that it was love at first sight: close friends and confidants, above all with the sharing of life and travel experiences. From the Hill tribes in Myanmar, to the ancient ruins of the sacred lands of Apache in New Mexico, from navigation along the Mekong in Laos to the French coasts, culture, food, art … This romantic story has translated into Tejen, brand that emphasizes the concept of sustainability.

Designing the jewels is a team between New York and Paris, while they are handmade in India. The style could be defined of complicated simplicity: soft lines, sometimes wrapped in surprising hyperbola, other times with straight and defined lines. Tejen uses only mined gold with sustainable methods. Isabel is part of the team that launched the recycled gold jewelery company Jem and Mark Kroeker worked with Donna Karan on the retail concept of Urban Zen, a brand that wants to combine philanthropy and commerce.
