Kara Ross is an American designer who designs accessories for stars such as Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama. She is particularly appreciated by the First Lady, so much so that she created a line of jewelry for her to give to heads of state (or, better, to their wives, if they are male) visiting the US: they are made with the wood of a magnolia tree on the White House lawn.

Among her signature pieces are necklaces with silver medallions, but also precious compositions of gold and gems, which cost figures with many zeros. Kara Ross has founded a small fashion empire, but she started out as a gem expert: she attended an intensive six-month program at the Gemological Institute of America, before designing her own line of jewelry. In 2003, she founded her current business: Kara Ross, New York. She is known for fusing traditional elements of gold, platinum and diamonds with organic materials such as ebony and maple. In 2005, she launched a collection of luxury handbags with exotic skins and gemstone clasps. If you don’t know her, here’s a little about her production.
