Bijoux with low environmental impact with Homi Fashion&Jewels

Bijoux and fashion are at the center of the new edition of Homi Fashion&Jewels Exhibition, organized as always at Fiera Milano (Rho) from 15 to 18 September. There are over 560 brands present, 46% of which come from abroad, who will present their collections of fashion accessories and jewelery for the autumn-winter 2023 season, together with some previews of the next Spring/Summer 2024. Trends are at the center of two areas thanks to the collaboration with Poli Design. The Design Direction presents itself as a multimedia journey capable of describing guidelines for fashion jewelery and accessories 2025-26, while Visionaires is the space where the proposals of the 120 designers who have best interpreted the most current trends are found, with innovative ideas in terms of materials, shapes, styles and colours.

Under the lens of the event are the now essential concepts of sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) themes. Homi Fashion&Jewels, according to the organizers of FieraMilano, has the objective of measuring and reducing the environmental impact of events to become a platform capable of spreading positive messages of awareness, thus stimulating the national and international community to gradually embrace ethical behaviour. A process of measuring the carbon footprint generated by its events began in 2022, with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions and aiming for the complete decarbonisation of trade fairs by 2050.

Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition returns in September

Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition, an event dedicated to bijoux, jewels and fashion accessories, is back in September: it will be held from 16 to 19 September in Fieramilano (Rho). In addition to the Italians, French brands and Greek designers are expected. The date is also useful for the presentation of the new collections for the next winter season. Furthermore, Homi takes place in partial contemporaneity with Micam, the international footwear exhibition, Mipel, the international exhibition dedicated to leather goods and fashion accessories and The One Milano, the Haute à-Porter exhibition (18 to 20 September), also in pavilions of Fieramilano.

For the occasion, the link between Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition and Poli.Design is also strengthened. The collaboration takes shape in a new space, FJ Visions of tomorrow, which will be developed through Fashion Future Trend, dedicated to the presentation of the new forecasts with multimedia contents. The second Fashion Future Incubator will be a path dedicated to the multiple visions of the future of jewelery and fashion accessories, a concrete story, made explicit through the presence of products that will reflect and interpret the seasonal must-haves and the trending colors of the two macro trends Handle With Care and Beyond Reality.

Homi Fashion & Jewels moved to mid-March

/

After Vicenzaoro, the covid is also postponing the Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition, an event dedicated to fashion jewelery and accessories. The event was scheduled from 18 to 21 February. Instead, it was repositioned from 11 to 14 March, again within the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition center. It will therefore be in partial coexistence with Micam, the International Footwear Exhibition, scheduled for March 13 to 15 together with The One Mmilano, Salone dell’Haut-à-Porter. The hope is that the decline in infections will make the atmosphere more serene and, above all, favor a greater influx of visitors.

“Aware that physical fairs are essential for the business of companies in the fashion sector, the organizers have once again united in the decision to reposition, keeping faith with the claim #BetterTogether but above all after having listened to the needs of the market”, is the message of the organizers. Which coincides with that of the operators.

NotForAll, bijoux made in Florence

/

Bijoux: those of the NotForAll brand are made in Florence ♦

NotForAll is for everyone and was born in 2010. The name of the brand is English, as the company itself points out, yet it is very Italian, based in Calenzano, a town between the cities of Prato and Florence.
NotForAll describes itself as a project born around textile suggestions with the encounter between yarn, metal and stones. And this is because it also offers bijoux made with the style of crochet fabrics. Earrings and necklaces are quite simple, but with their own style. They are made of metal, sometimes enamelled and natural or synthetic stones. All for prices that average between 100 and 200 euros.

Curiously, the idea of NotForAll is of a cycling enthusiast, Gianni Frosali, who by profession deals with the import export of jewelery materials through another company, Jit. However, the small company achieved good visibility thanks to its participation in events such as VicenzaOro and Homi.

Homi come back, with a space for research

Homi returns. Forgot (almost) the fear of the virus, the fairs are back in attendance. Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition, an event dedicated to bijou, trendy jewelery and fashion accessories is scheduled from 18 to 20 September in the pavilions of the Fair in Rho (Milan). The event, among other things, benefits from the collaboration with Poli.Design, which follows the trends of the design industry.

Homi Fashion & Jewels proposes itself also as a project platform in motion between design and research with New Craft, a space that will host a selection of collections of national and international fashion designers. New Craft, in the intentions of the organizers, will be a research hub dedicated to designers who have made exclusive creations, cutting-edge workmanship and quality of manufacturing their recognizable signature. A project that mainly supports the creativity of the “Made In”, which pays particular attention to sustainability and up cycling.

Homi returns and spells out

The fairs are back, timidly. Thanks to the vaccine, covid is a little less scary, even if it will continue to affect the activities of 2021. Thus, after Vicenzaoro (12-16 March), is coming Homi, the Milanese event largely dedicated to the world of bijoux. The main events in the fashion accessories sector (Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition, Micam Milano, Mipel, TheOne Milano, Lineapelle) will take place in synergy on the same dates to create an exhibition hub. Translated: they will optimize resources and visits. Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition, dedicated to fashion accessories, bijoux and trendy jewelery, will open on Saturday 20 March until Monday 22 March 2021.

In addition to the applause for the courage of the organizers of Fiera Milano (the company that manages the exhibition spaces), there is a funny aspect: Homi will dedicate this appointment to the theme of luck. Or, rather, of bad luck: an interesting topic, given the trend of 2020. The amulets, in short, will be the center of attention with the hashtag #BELUCKY. On the other hand, in fact, jewels were born just as good luck charms. We hope they are effective.

Homi come back in September

Many jewelery fairs have been suspended due to the health restrictions imposed by covid-19: Homi Fashion & Jewels, instead, will take place regularly. The fair (19-22 September) organized in Milan is dedicated to the segments of jewelery, fashion accessories, bijou and trendy jewelery, however, it will not forget the safety measures. “We have chosen to maintain the physical format by re-modulating it on the basis of new needs to give a signal of proactive and proactive continuity towards the future. All this without giving up digital but finding the right balance with the real dimension, because the relationship between people remains a crucial node of the business system and for this reason it needs to be even more valued ” assures Emanuele Guido, director of the event.

Security that will also pass from the increase in digital activities with Fiera Milano Platform, a platform dedicated to the whole community of reference chains, created in an integrated way that revolves around #befashionandjewels, a project created to create competitive strength that develops around a community system where all the actors are on the same level and which supports retail, buyers and top visitors. The idea is to cultivate relationships, sharing stories, through written and photographic content, thus emphasizing the character of each individual project. For example, how a collection is born, in which country it is produced, if a dash of innovation has been added to creativity, what materials have been used, as well as the inspiration concept. An identity card accessible within a click, even after the September 2020 edition.

In any case, there are already many companies that will be physically present at Homi, such as Amlé, Confuorto Gioielli, Pf Milano, Lebole gioielli, Dago Jewels, Idandi and Carola Gioielli, Not For All, Ruedesmille, Mya Accessories.

Homi Fashion & Jewels is born

/

Homi Fashion & Jewels is born, a spin-off of the fair held twice a year in Milan ♦ ︎

In Milan, in Italy a new fair dedicated to jewelry or, more precisely, to bijoux. It will be called Homi Fashion & Jewels, a six-monthly event dedicated to the world of bijoux and fashion accessories. Actually this appointment already exists, only that it is incorporated into Homi, a fair that includes other types of products. Now, however, Homi has decided to split into three. Next to Homi Fashion & Jewels, is born Homi Outdoor, on an annual basis: it’s focusing to outdoor combined with the home & decoration offer. These two new formats will take place from 13 to 16 September 2019. The third format is called, instead, Homi the Lifestyles Exhibition, and will focus on a single major edition starting in January 2020.

It should be noted that Homi Fashion & Jewels will be close to VicenzaOro September (7-11 September 2019).

Although the vast majority of exhibitors at the two events are different, there are some brands that usually participate in both fairs. For example, Lebole Gioielli, Alcozer, Aibijoux. The almost overlap will probably put these brands in front of a choice, or a difficult logistics organization.
The latest edition of Homi in January, number 11, saw the participation of 80 thousand operators from more than 90 countries, including Russia (605 registered ones), Spain, Switzerland, China, France and Japan.

Meadow and bonsai flowers: Eleonora Ghilardi chooses nature for her new bijoux ♦ ︎

Eleonora Ghilardi is now a certainty in the world of bijou. It is, in fact, a designer who follows an original path, and who has not only practical experience but also theoretical experience, thanks to studies at the Goldsmith School in Milan. This is confirmed by the novelties presented at Homi, the fair that collects, among other things, many bijoux brands. One of the novelties is the Dandelion line, the wild flower that is found in the meadows in spring. The jewels are in silver or bronze and are composed of many stems that remind the pistils of the flower.

Another novelty is Bonsai, a collection inspired by the Japanese technique of miniaturizing shrubs and even trees. From the observation of the mini plants, Eleonora Ghilardi has decided to create wearable bonsai: three rings that can also be micro plants by table, at home, “as you would do with a real bonsai, which is also a small sculpture”. The vase of the Bonsai ring, in porcelain with very natural colors, can be used as a pendant for a necklace.

A metal bow tie around the neck

The original unisex metal bow ties designed by Niels Verschuren ♦︎

Studying to become a space designer and after create jewelry, even if very different from the usual. It is the road taken by Niels Verschuren. He specialized in jewelry design in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and there is no doubt that his style is original: in fact, Niels draws unisex bow ties, but naturally with an unusual look. Explains Niels Verschuren:

“Nowadays everyone strives for smoothness and perfection, but I brought the bow tie back to a lower resolution. At the same time I have made an open and transparent interplay of lines, which makes it immediately noticeable”.

Bow tie gold 14 K
Bow tie gold 14 K

The bow ties are made using different materials and in nine colors: nylon, bronze, silver, gold 14 k and crystal, the latter made in collaboration with Isaac Monte. Obviously they do not loose as for the silk ties, but they have a button to press to open the mechanism that allows you to easily wear the bow tie. All the pieces are created starting from six patterns designed by the designer. Surely a bijoux that does not go unnoticed.

The jewels of the Millenials

A survey on Millenials reveals the jewels preferred by young people. The most worn type is … ♦ ︎

There are jewelry company giants that are in alarm: the Millenials, the generation born at the turn of the year 2000, will still love diamonds, expensive sets, necklaces with precious stones? An international research, conducted by the Milan Polytechnic, dedicated to the Millenials, has tried to answer the question. The research was conducted on over 500 young people (351 girls and 170 boys from 30 countries, for 65% Italians). The result was presented at Homi, the fair (also) of bijoux that took place in Milan from 14 to 17 September, with 650 exhibitors in the pavilions dedicated to the fashion jewel.

Giovane millenial con bijoux
Giovane millenial con bijoux

The conclusion of the study should reassure those who produce jewelry: more than two thirds of the young people interviewed wear them.

But, attention: it is not clear what the venal value is attributed. Indeed, according to the research, young people are indifferent to the material with which the jewels are made: precious and bijoux. The value that young people seek is not in the material or in the shape, but in the pleasure that each accessory evokes. In short, the emotional side is more attractive, the story that a piece of jewelry can tell.

Il 52% delle ragazze sceglie di indossare orecchini
Il 52% delle ragazze sceglie di indossare orecchini

The choice falls mainly on earrings (52% chosen for their practicality), followed by rings (44%), necklaces (37%) and bracelets (32%).

It is not surprising, however, that the younger ones wear jewels in their spare time, at school or at work. Apart from the purchases of bijoux in the street markets (28%), probably also due to lower costs, it is interesting that they like the jewels of independent designers (25%) who are followed through social profiles or the web, are first evaluated online , but also in specialized shops. In short, less bijoux of an industrial type, and more exclusive products or with unique characteristics.
A less positive figure, however, is the tendency of boys to buy basically on impulse. In short, with less information they tend to buy the first thing that moves them. Millenials girls will have different tastes but, like their mothers, they like to receive jewelry as gifts (it happened to 39% of the interviewees), even if some (about 24%) choose to buy them personally.
Which style prefers a Millenials? Nobody in particular, even if the choice is mainly on minimal or classic jewelry. For two thirds of the boys interviewed, jewels and bijoux have a special meaning and also represent a memory, the symbol of a relationship or a special moment of their life. But this also applies to their parents.

Eleonora Ghilardi, Canadian style

Eleonora Ghilardi returns from Canada with a new collection to be presented at Homi ♦ ︎
With Lombard punctuality (in fact it is from Lodi) Eleonora Ghilardi updates the state of service of her creative vein. The designer returns to Homi, the fair scheduled for Milan from 26 to 29 January, but in a new exhibition area: no longer Experimenta Plus, but Maestri del Gioiello. Is it a promotion? Certainly a new status, in which the young designer decided to present the new spring / summer collections. The jewels are made of bronze and silver with the lost wax casting technique. “In these new lines there is a new use of enamel, with colors especially dedicated to the inspiration of the new collection”, explains the designer. Who does not give up on connecting rings, necklaces and bracelets on her travels. As in the case of the Sea to Sky collection, inspired by a trip to Canada. Within this collection there are several lines: Blueberry (small spheres like blueberry berries and branches), Falls obviously refers to the Canadian waterfalls, Rainforest with the combination of porcelain and stabilized lichen. Tide Pools is instead linked to the small lakes created by the tides and Pacific Rim to the beaches of the Canadian Pacific Coast.

Lora Nikolova, compositions to wear

Abstract art is worn by the neck with the new bijoux by Lora Nikolova ♦ ︎
Thinking to Vasilij Vasil’evič Kandinskij, the tutelary figure of abstractionism, is too much. But looking at Lora Nikolova’s bijoux, lying on a white surface, an analogy with non-figurative art is immediate. The autumn-winter 2017/18 collection by the Bulgarian-born designer, now stable in Milan, where he studied art at the Brera Academy, however, also has another inspiration: free hand designs and graphic sketches. She explains that the goal is not just to create a network in which the elements of the bijou are positioned, but to propose a pattern made through the wire and beads (bugle beads) that creates a game of different thicknesses. A design that resembles an abstract composition, in fact.
Small and light jewelry, that we seen in Homi (fair in Milan), have also colorful tassels. A new entry is the mono-earrings. The materials are not important: what matters is a very original, very balanced, very colorful composition.

Valentina Sciumé off limits

Valentina Sciumé, among fashion and accessories, her unlimited bijoux ♦︎
She is defined herself as fashion and accessories designer and emphasizes her works is made in Italy-handmade. Valentina Sciumé is one of the creative ones that are hardly framable, at least her style. To say that she is eclectic is too little. Perhaps it is enough to say that it is a creative that does not set limits. Nothing is too much: if you like super trendy fashion jewelry, even of remarkable size, take a look at her production. With her fashion and jewelry traveling in parallel: graduated from the Fashion Academy in Rome, and she designed Alberto Biani’s ready-to-wear line for two seasons. Her curriculum includes an experience in the design team of the first line of Costume National and two and a half years in women’s accessories production for the second lines of Versace, Versace Collection and Versus.
From there she started off for his creative world: she confesses “a great passion for fashion accessories” and she founded the brand bearing his name in 2012. And not only accessories, but also hats. Always on the fashion world, she has participated in various fashion-related events, as well as at Homi, a fair dedicated to accessory. In short, a double life, only of course, for creativity. Milan Unchained

Chains, chains, chains: 150 jewelry made with interlaced rings in the exhibition Scatenata (Unchained), in Milan.
If you love jewelry made with chains, Homi has opened in Milan Scatenata (Unchained), exhibition of 150 pieces made of intersecting circles. It would have been strange if the show had not been curated by Alba Cappellieri, a professor of Jewellery Design and the Attachment to the Politecnico di Milano, already active in the Museum of the Jewel of Vicenza. The chains on display have the most varied backgrounds: they are made by artisans, artists, designers and established brands. They are the result of goldsmith skills, but also of use of innovative materials, by hand or by machine. And for the uninitiated, the chain there is not just one type. It can be groumette, marinara, crossbar, belcher, forzatina, drip, ear, or bracket. All on exhibition.

The time of bijoux

Clocks turned into jewelry with a patient work of composition: it is the work of Tomoko Tokuda,Japanese designer who lives in Milan.
If Italians are drawn to the passion for food, what is that fascinates the Japanese? Who visits the Land of the Rising Sun knows it: the design. Essential and refined, rather than exotic. It must be the fruit of Japanese roots if a designer like Tomoko Tokuda, Japanese but grew up in Italy and France, found an absolutely original way in the world of quality bijoux. A Homi, the Milan exhibition dedicated among other things to the jewelry designer, Tomoko has presented her latest works of a story began when, at age 24, she was struck by old clocks at an antique store. Dials and lancets, metaphor of time passing and, at the same time, design elements as the same but always different, have become the material to work with. Time as a unique collection of jewelry made from a mosaic of wheels, gears and numbers: for sure it is an original choice. But it is also interesting from an aesthetic point of view. Her jewels are created with a selection of unique pieces “collected in antique markets around the world.” And, since the watchmaking work is a cousin of the goldsmith, with the work of Tomoko we are seeing a surprising marriage. But you do not ask what time it is to necklaces, earrings and rings.

Eleonora Ghilardi in Hawaii

Eleonora Ghilardi bijoux come back, with an intercontinental trip from Adda river to Pacific Ocean.
A Homi, the Milan fair dedicated to (among other things) to jewelry, the news never fail. Among those of 2017, there are also the new collections for spring-summer of Eleonora Ghilardi. Lombard of Lodi city, combines design with crafts through a material such as ceramics, as well as silver and bronze. But the force of the imagination for 2017 led her away from the Adda River that flows in his city: the new collection of EG Eleonora Ghilardi Ceramics & Jewels is inspired by the Hawaiian islands. “Even the shapes are the result of a conceptual research. The jewelery is made basically in bronze (lost wax technique), really special … from some tests performed in my private events I have already noted the appreciation of the public, and will therefore easily be proposed, “says Elenora to Gioiellis.com. “I also opted for a color added: Glass gems like for Sweetie line, fragments of shells for Tasman Sea and mirrors for Selfies. The real Made in Italy stands out not only for the care with which the objects are made, but also for creativity in combining the material and this is a constant in my jewels.” MdB

In Milan 500 Fashion Jewels

The exhibition of 500 fashion jewelry at the Palazzo Reale, in Milan.
Fashion and jewelry: like saying champagne and bubbles, or sea and tanning. In a nutshell, are two aspects of the same game. The differences are especially those related to the material used which, of course, also affect the shape of the jewels, but not the creativity expressed. And Milan, the Italian fashion capital, joins the wires in the exhibition dedicated to the Fashion Jewelry (Royal Palace, from 8 to November 20, admission free). The exhibition is sponsored and produced by the City of Milan, the Royal Palace and Homi and is curated by Alba Cappellieri, a professor of Jewellery Design and the Attachment to the Politecnico di Milano. Objective: to highlight the relationship between Jewel and Fashion. The exhibition presents 500 significant jewels divided into three sections: Jewels for Fashion, dedicated to the main Italian craft and manufacturing excellence, Jewelry on Fashion, with independent designers and brands, with a focus on the creative processes, and Jewelry with Fashion , dedicated to the main designers and ability of jewel to interact with the dress.
And so, the organizers point out that no mention of jewelry but the real jewels for fashion, since they are not the materials to make a valuable object, but the creativity that is used to think it. At the same time, however, it is difficult to argue that a pair of earrings with emeralds and diamonds are not valuable because it modeled on a style already in use.
