VicenzaOro debuts in 3D

The first impression on the day of VicenzaOro’s debut is that there are more people than last year. The Winter version of the most important event in Italy dedicated to goldsmithing seems to have started off on the right foot. Only the operators’ accounts at the end of the show, however, will be able to testify whether Gioiellis.com was just an impression or, after the dark years of the crisis, the market is really waking up. What is certain is that in the third quarter of 2013, global demand for gold jewelry recorded a growth in quantity of 5.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. And this is the best result since 2011. Even if the credit was not due to the Italian market. Among the factors that contributed most to the increase, in fact, were the reduction in the price of gold and the improvement in the economic situation in the United States, driven by consumption. And among the pavilions? In the coming days we will publish the best pieces we saw. But the most original ones are certainly the 3D jewels, which have found space in the exhibition “Around the future: 3D printing for jewelry”. For now, they are certainly not valuable pieces, given that they are made of plastic material (but not only) and with the contribution of 3D printers (made in Veneto). However, there are those who bet that if a way is found to use more refined workmanship and materials, that of jewelry makers will be a new trend that many producers will have to deal with.
