The ancient art of carved image jewelry lives on in the jewels of the Neapolitan maison.
A lifetime of chisel in hand. The result is exceptional: it’s called Cameo Italiano. The company, now based at the Centro Orafo in Marcianise (Caserta), is the fruit of the Di Luca family’s labor. The story began in 1957 with Michele Di Luca. Having learned the art of carving, the master goldsmith decided to continue the tradition that made Torre del Greco, Naples, and the surrounding area the world capital of cameo.

An art that was immediately appreciated abroad, so much so that the jeweler received a gold medal for contributing to the region’s economic development. The cameo tradition was continued by his children, Gino, Anna, Pina, and Marinella, who in 1980 transformed the company with a profound organizational overhaul, but without compromising the artisanal aspect of the workmanship, which is still done by hand. Gino also deserves credit for launching the world-renowned Cameo Italiano brand in 2012. A jewel of excellence that has renewed tradition without erasing its uniqueness, as demonstrated by the jewels presented and the appreciation of an actress like Cate Blanchett.
