We’ll tell you right away, so you know what the cost of the Pomellato wish is if it is dyed red: the price of the rings is 790 euros, that of the necklaces 560 euros, the earrings rise to 1,400 euros. Because red is the color of the new Pomellato collection, called Rouge Passion. The idea, as can be understood from the name, is that of a suite of jewels dominated by the strongest color and neighboring shades: pink and orange. But you won’t find rubies there: the ones mounted are synthetic (and therefore ecological, they say) stones made in the laboratory. Do they have the same charm as a beautiful tourmaline or a garnet? Judge for yourself. Rings, earrings and pendants, moreover, are made of gold. But at 9 carats, the minimum. Let’s remember: 9 karat gold is a metal that has 9 grams of yellow metal for every 24 grams of alloy of other elements. In other words: only 37.5% of 9 karat gold is actually gold. Furthermore, Pomellato has mounted synthetic rubies and sapphires, i.e. fake ones, doubled in mother-of-pearl (real?), with a teardrop cabochon cut. They are certainly noticeable: red, pink and orange do not go unnoticed. For a change, in any case, an advertising campaign is also on the way for good newspapers and sites, those who write that synthetic stones are a good investment. Guess who they entrusted the image to? Yes, always to her, to the eternal Tilda Swinton, warm as a Swedish refrigerator. Who knows, maybe synthetic stones don’t give her an ounce of soul.
