Acies Collection: bracelets, rings and necklaces by Marco Dal Maso for men and, perhaps, also for women ♦ ︎
Acies, word in Latin language that means tip, cutting edge, sharp cut, but also sword, sharpness, lively look, sharp look. In English, instead, the name indicates the full attention of sight, hearing or other senses, directed towards a particular object. In jewelery, however, Acies is the name of the jewelry collection reserved for the man by Marco Dal Maso, which summarizes the concept as follows: «Although we all move along our path, our lives run constantly parallel to each other other. We are all united in our individuality ».
The jewels of the Acies collection, to tell the truth, can in many cases be considered unisex, intended also for women who love objects with little affectation. Perhaps not the necklaces with pendant, recently added to the collection, which have a severe military aspect. Rings or bracelets, on the other hand, can be worn by men or women.
The jewels are made of vermeil, that is with a golden finish placed on solid silver. In gold plating, instead, any metal can be used as a base, and the gold layer can be of various purity levels. Marco Dal Maso also points out that while the industry standards indicate that for high quality vermeil pieces the gold plating must be 14 carat or higher, the Maison exceeds the standard and uses 18 carats on all its vermeil items. And the thickness of the gold portion must be at least 2.5 microns.
