The winter version of Vicenzaoro challenges frost and crisis, which opens on Saturday 19 January with the Opening Summit. The International Gold and Jewelery Exhibition will end on 24 January 2013. The opening (at 6.30pm in the Palladio Room) will be an opportunity to try to understand where we are going. For the occasion, a parade of luxury and luxury names is expected. Then it remains to be seen whether they will say something original. But that’s it. They will (perhaps) talk about new distribution scenarios and markets, opportunities for online sales and social media, brand enhancement strategies, communication and promotion of a brand, forecasting, new prospects for luxury. In short, everything. The list of speeches, which risks postponing the most coveted moment of dinner until night, includes speeches from Roberto Ditri, president of Fiera di Vicenza, Nadja Swarovski, executive board of Swarovski Crystal Business, Stephen Webster, founder and creative director Stephen Webster, Joanne Arbuckle, dean of the School of Art and Design Fashion Institute of Technology, Artak Udumyan, vice-president of Este, Roberto Coin, CEO of Roberto Coin, Hank Siegel, owner and president of Hamilton Jewelers, Jenny Jing, editor in chief Harper’s Bazaar Jewelry China. Simon Brooke, editor of the Financial Times, was called to moderate, hopefully not too much. Who knows how much all this (golden) consultancy will have cost.
