A jewelry competition took place. But not in Basel, Las Vegas or even Vicenza: it was the one that saw the Met Gala as its battlefield, an event that inaugurates the Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York (the ticket cost 25 thousand dollars), this year dedicated to the American couturier Charles James. The Met Gala is the moment in which the great jewelry brands compete to have the stars wear their creations. Here is what we saw this year. Zoe Kravitz, with an astronomical cleavage, chose jewelry by H. Stern, plus layered rings and bracelets by Anita Ko. But the red carpet also featured actresses and singers such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyoncé and Victoria Beckham, with Harry Winston, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Jacobs & Co. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively instead chose Lorraine Schwartz and Graff Diamonds. Harry Winston for Karolina Kurova, while Rihanna opted for a designer with a degree from the Fine Arts University of Bologna: Dionea Orcini, the only Italian star of the evening.
