The father works with jewels (if you consider the salary) in flesh and bone. Her daughter, on the other hand, deals with jewelery in 14 karat recycled gold and diamonds made in the laboratory. He is Josè Mourinho, one of the most famous football coaches in the world, she is Matilde Mourinho, a young designer (27 years old) based in London, who a year ago launched Matilde Jewellery, a jewelery brand whose flag is sustainability, as well as aesthetics. Now the brand has also introduced a line of jewelery for men, also sponsored on Instagram by the father.

Matilde Mourinho was born in Setubal, Portugal, south of the capital Lisbon. Her passion for jewelry began already in elementary school, when she sold her first artifacts to other students (but the teachers didn’t. They liked it). The designer studied at the London College of Fashion and then obtained her Master’s degree at the Conde Nast College of Fashion & Design. Even though her brand was only born a few years ago, Matilde won the Emerging Brand of the Year 2021 award at the Professional Jeweler Awards in London and numerous celebrity clients, such as Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Thandwie Newton, Naomi Scott and Kylie Minogue.

Matilde Jewelery offers a rather simple and linear design, with rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces made up of thin gold bands or chains and lines of small synthetic diamonds. A choice which, according to Matilde Mourinho (a name she shares with her mother and grandmother) is determined by the urgency in addressing the environmental issue and respecting the value of sustainability. In short, Matilde Jewelery wants to achieve goals with fair prices thanks to transparent processes, fair environmental and social treatment thanks to sustainability.
