She will be in Vicenza as part of Origin (8-11 May), the parallel fair to VicenzaOro Spring dedicated to design and accessories. Fannie Schiavoni, a Swede with eyes as transparent as the sea, has a surname that is clearly Italian, probably Venetian, but she was born in the Scandinavian country. She is already a phenomenon. She moved to London at 18 and after graduating from the London College of Fashion, she continued to work for Hussein Chalayan, Julien Macdonald and Giles Deacon before launching her own label. In the space of three years, her chainmail accessories, halfway between tailoring and jewelry, which sometimes recall the protections used by knights in the Middle Ages, ended up on the pages of Vogue, worn by Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the Scissor Sisters. In short: she has become one of the most sought-after trend-setting designers. Dolce & Gabbana are among her followers. Her secret? “With attention to detail,” she explained in a recent interview. “Every millimeter counts when you work on cutting the pattern. And the same with my rings.” She says she is inspired by surrealism, but realistically she is one of the designers to watch.
