Deefine, a love for three (to jewels) born among India, Italy and USA. Here is the story ♦ ︎
A story for three, but the love is the jewel. This is how Deefine was born, a small Maison founded by three friends from different countries. Deepa Lakhani, of Indian origin, studied at the Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design and took her first steps in the fashion world, including Alexander McQueen and Fendi. She also has its own label, Deepa Gurnani. Marco Mencagli, on the other hand, is Italian and studied Business Economics at the University of Siena. But he was born into a family of jewelers and knows the mechanisms of the market, and he also founded his brand, Marmen in 2009. Jay Lakhani, finally, is the husband of Deepa, who married in 2005. He is the designer of Deefine. Jay studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and obtained a certificate from the Gia (Gemological Institute of America). He also worked with Bulgari and Tiffany and is the co-founder of Deepa Gurnani.
The idea of the brand is to reinterpret traditional culture and design in modern symbols. The jewels are made in Italy with sustainable and eco-compatible metals and stones. The style of the jewels is quite simple, but not without interesting aspects, as in the hypnotic combination of opals and topazes with black rhodium gold. Giulia Netrese
