Russians in Angola for diamonds. Angola and Russia will work together to look for new diamond mines in the African country, which is currently the fifth largest producer in the world. The partnership was made known by Antonio Carlos Subula, president of Endiama, the national diamond company. “We have signed an agreement with Alrosa to start a vast research campaign,” he said at the conference. Last year Angolan diamond production was 8.3 million carats, worth $1.3 billion. According to government estimates, production for 2013 could rise to 9 million carats which would correspond to revenues of 1.5 billion dollars.
