Oscar-worthy jewelry: the red carpet on which the stars parade in the award ceremony of the first dedicated to cinema, earrings, necklaces and rings have always been the protagonists, together with the dresses designed by the most famous stylists. This year was no exception: according to the journalists, the most successful combination (and among the most eye-catching) was the one all in the green tone of the presenter of the evening, Scarlett Johansson. Aside from the necklace, the actress born in the Bronx, showed off a new hairstyle (with shaved sides) and asymmetric earrings by Piaget: in rose gold with five pear-shaped emeralds, 278 brilliant-cut diamonds, four pear-shaped aquamarines and two pear-shaped green tourmalines.
Emma Stone (nominated for Birdman), instead, wore yellow and white gold bracelets with diamonds from the Tiffany Blue Book 2015 collection and platinum and diamond earrings, also by Tiffany & Co. Reese Witherspoon also wore earrings, bracelets, a diamond ring and a blue diamond ring from the Tiffany Blue Book 2015 collection. Cate Blanchett also chose Tiffany: the large turquoise necklace worn on a dress by Margiela is from the New York brand. Also notable were the diamond earrings worn by Chloe Grace Moretz, who also wore a bracelet, also made of diamonds. A sapphire and diamond necklace, with a bow as a pendant, appeared around Margot Robbie’s neck: made of emeralds, sapphires and diamonds, it is signed Van Cleef and Arpels and boasts a unique history: that model was created in 1930 for the Duchess of Windsor. The Parisian maison was also chosen by Felicity Jones, with The Minaudière (a jeweled handbag) from 1947, made of Styptor (a silver and pewter alloy), yellow gold and diamonds, and the Dans les Étoiles earrings, with white, champagne and fancy yellow diamonds, briolette cut, and Snowflake, a bracelet in diamonds and platinum.
Van Cleef & Arpels also for Viola Davis, one of the evening’s hosts. For her, the Valadon necklace (1973), made of pearls, diamonds and yellow gold. Bulgari was also present at the Oscars: a turquoise-toned ring signed by the Roman maison was worn by Laura Dern. This too is a jewel with a unique history: it was designed in honor of the American writer Cheryl Strayed, who Laura Dern played in the film Wild (not to be confused with Into the Wild). Turquoise is the color of the American Lung Associate initiative Lung Force, dedicated to cancer patients, the disease that killed Cheryl’s mother Bobbi. Chopard also walked the red carpet, with a necklace around the neck of Selma actress Carmen Egojo. Also notable were Jennifer Hudson’s large emerald earrings, Jennifer Hudson, who also wore the Prato Fiorito ring by Pasquale Bruni, and Anna Kendrick’s diamond necklace by Norman Silverman. And what about Lupita Nyong’o? She wore a Kalvin Klein dress adorned with 6,000 pearls, as well as diamond earrings.
