The film divided critics and audiences. United, however, in the positive opinion for the jewels worn by the protagonists of the “Great Gatsby”, which you see here on the classic red carpet of the Croisette. Carey Mulligan and Elizabeth Debicki obviously wore jewelery with Tiffany diamonds in Cannes, also protagonists of the big film about the roaring years of the last century. The premiere of the film at the Cannes Film Festival, for which Tiffany designed an art deco style collection, was also the opportunity to present the new Ziegfeld collection, which is inspired by the drawings from the archives of the New York fashion house and which takes its name from legendary Ziegfeld Theater in Manhattan opened in 1927, considered a model of art deco architecture. The Ziegfeld collection makes extensive use of silver, pearls and onyx. «This collection celebrates Tiffany as the most important jeweler of the 1920s, an era that saw an incredible change in fashion and the birth of a new and exuberant spirit», is the comment of Jon King, executive vice president of Tiffany. In fact, in the 1920s long strings of pearls were very popular, which were the symbol of the fashion of the time and which Tiffany now takes up with a long necklace and earrings with luminous pearls. The silver pendant, with a black onyx stone in the center, decorated with a daisy, is suspended from a thin chain with small pearls. Also part of the collection is a heart-shaped silver medallion decorated with a daisy: not because it is a stylistic feature of the time, but because it refers to the character of the Great Gatsby (Daisy, which in English means daisy). And there is no shortage of offerings for men, with oval black enamel cufflinks and a signet ring in silver and black onyx. Torpedo and Balilla, however, leave them at home.
