With Les Comètes de Natale, Chanel’s high jewellery revives the first diamond collection imagined by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel: “I want to cover women with stars! Stars of all sizes. What’s more eternally modern?”, exclaimed the designer after seeing a comet. It was 1932, the year of the debut of the Bijoux de Diamants line, and from then on stars and comets became a source of inspiration, along with pearls and camellias. After 80 years, the Parisian maison is taking up the theme again with three sets, of which Étoile filante is the exact copy, even with cufflinks, of the one worn by Mademoiselle for the launch of her jewellery; then comes Voie Lactée: necklace, bracelet and ring in white gold, white cultured pearls from Japan and diamonds; finally, Nuit de diamants, a triumph of black spinel pearls or cabochon cut, mounted on white gold and many, many diamonds. Obviously.
