Anelli Marco Ta Moko

Marco Ta Moko, on the skin of man

Can a designer fall in love with the Maori language and even adopt it as a brand? Yes, it can: the result is Marco Ta Moko, a new jewelery brand for men. You can see the images of the proposed pieces. But it is also interesting to know the genesis, as told by the founder of Marco Ta Moko himself who, by the way, is simply Marco Dal Maso.

«I learned the art of jewelery with my father, in the DML (on the Dml Jewels website there is in fact a photo of him together with his father, mother and sister ed.). Then I decided to continue my personal path, write and travel. Travel is what motivates me and keeps me inspired. Experimenting with new places, different people, alternative backgrounds, this is what I was born to do”, says Del Maso. «During a trip through New Zealand in 2006, a spiritual journey, I became absorbed by the meaning and culture of Ta Moko. Word meaning tattoo, that is, tattoo, in the ancient Maori language. Ta Moko represents a person’s achievements and social status in the tribe, and is considered a great honor. The Ta Moko was worn by both men and women. It is applied to the face and buttocks of men, and to the chin, lips and shoulders of women. The Ta Moko was like a person’s success story and represented the wearer’s status within the tribe. Like a CV.”

And, after all, even a jewel is part of the curriculum, it is a sign of distinction, of belonging.

«I know that looking, touching and wearing my jewels will make you feel what I feel: the infinite touch of being alive!», assures Marco. «Ta Moko is the process of inscribing, of marking the skin, of placing the narrative; Moko is the result, the finished work, the structured story, the permanently engraved pictorial memories, Ngahuia te Awekotuku».

In short, you never stop learning. By the way, the entire collection uses diamonds and 18k gold.
