Hania’s challenge

Dear jewelery artists, dear goldsmiths, dear producers of collections that sell poorly in Italy: beware that prejudices are a paved road to hell. Let us translate: in addition to the folkloristic aspects and those linked to public order, a new class of people is emerging in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa who have made money and, with wealth, are more available to make purchases. Not only that: the fundamentalism of customs is not always the main fact. This is demonstrated by the images published on this Gioiellis.com page. They come from Algeria, one of the countries where rigid Islamism has resulted in conflict in recent years. Now, however, Algiers has also hosted fashion shows in which a miniskirt appears and, as regards jewellery, earrings and necklaces with an ethnic imprint, but also modern design. The fashion show, entitled Lumiere e Liberté, that is, lights and freedom, was interpreted by the designer Hania Zazoua.
