No wonder Christie’s or Sotheby’s: the most unusual jewels sold at auction were sold in Las Vegas. The sale carried out in the gambling capital (what better place?) involved valuables stolen from criminals. For example, a 5-carat diamond confiscated from a Texas scammer. The treasure auctioned was entirely made up of assets confiscated by the US Marshals Service and included gold, silver, bullion, coins, jewelry and watches recovered from crime cases. Among the assets up for auction were 6.6 kilos of gold pellets seized from a gang that defrauded the US healthcare system of $100 million and a necklace depicting a banker put up for sale for $13,000.
