Hunters of super diamonds and fine jewels: buy a ticket to Hong Kong. On May 28, Christie’s has scheduled a super sale of jewels, 290 of them, for a total estimate of 74 million dollars. The top of the sale is a 75.36-carat colorless (D), internally flawless, type IIa, marquise-cut diamond necklace. The estimate ranges from 8.5 to 12.5 million dollars. Not only that: Christie Hong Kong will also auction a jewel by Boucheron, circa 1950, with eight emeralds set with a line of cushion-cut diamonds, alternating with baguette-cut diamonds. The estimate for this piece is 3 to 5 million dollars. Jewelry of this caliber is typically owned by extraordinarily wealthy collectors. Also in the catalog of the same auction is a diamond and ruby ring by James W. Currens, 8.88 carats and with a high degree of transparency, flanked by pear and marquise cut diamonds. Estimated from 2.3 to 3.5 million dollars. In China, jade is very popular and, therefore, it is not surprising that Christie offers many jewels with this stone. Among these, a ring, earrings and a necklace with 14 cabochon ovals of bright green and highly translucent jadeite, embellished with brilliant-cut diamond spacers: if you want it you will have to write a check for between 2.3 and 3.5 million dollars.
