The new collection of nine brooches by Van Cleef & Arpels has a pretty animal theme ♦ ︎
There are many ways to adopt an animal. Usually dogs, cats or red fish are given by friends or bought in a pet shop selling. From today there is a possibility: go to jewelry. Or, better, in a Van Cleef & Arpels boutique. The great Parisian Maison, in fact, launches a new collection of brooches, Lucky Animals (but they are especially lucky for the women who will receive them).
The animals are, in fact, part of the tradition of the high jewelery company. The Maison’s story records the animals of the 1954 collection, with the Lion ébouriffé and the highly appreciated Chat malicieux. And in 2016 came the collection of High Jewelry L’Arche de Noé racontée for Van Cleef & Arpels (see also: The Ark of Van Cleef & Arpels).
Today, the collection of clip-art animals includes nine models: cat, lion, hummingbird, rabbit, hedgehog, squirrel, dove, owl, dog. Jewelery is handmade according to the best tradition, with mother-of-pearl (especially difficult to work), and hard stones such as tiger eye, malachite, corniola, lapis lazuli, onyx. Colors and patterns of each stone serve to characterize the cloak of the small zoo surrounded by small gold pearls.
Van Cleef & Arpels emphasizes that the selection of these stones takes place according to the highest quality criteria: the color must be homogeneous and luminous, while the veins, like the tiger eye and malachite, are harmoniously divided over the whole surface. Still: the white pearl is one of the rarest, those with a regular reflection and opacity. The gray pearl necklace is selected according to the shine, which reveals subtle shades of blues or rosé. The price of the clips from the Lucky Animals collection ranges between 5850 and 7000 euros.
