The combination is certainly unusual: wine and jewels. Yet it is the idea of «Gioielli in Fermento 2013, international exhibition of designer jewelry». This is a competition open to designers and artists, for the creation and display of designer jewelery inspired by a specific theme, which is renewed every year, in content linked to the world of wine. The result is a jewelery exhibition, hosted from 12 to 29 May in the Torre Fornello spaces dedicated to the Vigna delle Arti. Then the exhibition will stop in other exhibition spaces (list at the bottom of the article). The Vigna delle Arti is a wide-ranging cultural project promoted open to all languages of contemporary art.

The objective is to offer artists the opportunity to collaborate, experiment and compare, in the context of the Torre Fornello winery, in the Piacentini Hills. «Jewels in ferment» is dedicated to in-depth research on contemporary jewellery. This year’s theme plays on the balance of sensations or taste as an expressive tool. In short, the combination of palate and idea of a jewel. The assignment of the Torre Fornello Prize will be decreed by the jury invited by Enrico Sgorbati, owner of Torre Fornello and passionate about contemporary art, to express himself on the attractive factors of contemporary ornament played here as well as on the multiple sensorial aspects. The votes will be assigned by Gian Carlo Montebello, jewelery designer, teacher and publisher of artist jewellery; Gigi Mariani, goldsmith artist, vice president of the Paulo Ribeiro Contemporary Jewelry Association; Eliana Negroni, curator for the Gioielli in Fermento Torre Fornello Prize project. And the palate? The president of the jury, Gualtiero Marchesi, who is also an art enthusiast, will be the judge. The winners will be announced during the inauguration of the exhibition on May 12th at the Vigna delle Arti in Torre Fornello. By the way: the inauguration will be accompanied by the tasting of Torre Fornello wines.
