While the jewelry giants challenge each other with diamonds and rubies, technology invades their field. After the ring clock, a ring that becomes a watch and video earrings, here is the smart ring. That is, intelligent, capable of interacting with an iPhone or a phone with an Android operating system. The Smarty Ring works in tandem with a smartphone and allows the wearer to make phone calls, read text messages, control music and receive real-time updates from social media. It is made of stainless steel, is unisex, and was designed by an Indian engineer. The ring is equipped with a Bluetooth 4.0 sensor and works with both Android and iOS phones (iPad and iPhone). The technological jewel has a small LED screen that lights up every time the wearer receives a phone call, an email, text message, post on Facebook or Twitter. It can also be used as a remote control and remains in function for 24 hours. It is not yet on sale: it will be marketed in April 2014 in Australia and New Zealand at a rather modest price: 275 dollars (about 210 euros). And then they say that jewels are not useful…
