A 118-carat diamond: it will be sold by Sotheby’s auction house in Hong Kong and will be a record. Alongside this super diamond, a 7.59-carat round blue brilliant will also be sold at auction. Quek Chin Yeow, the vice president of Sotheby’s Asia, traveled to New York to publicize the auction, which will be held on October 7 in the Chinese city. Quek explained that the egg-sized white diamond is perfect (you can see it in the pictures). “It meets all quality requirements,” he said. The white diamond was discovered recently in Africa, in 2011: in its rough state it was a 299-carat stone. Only four times in history have diamonds over 100 carats been sold. But it’s not just the weight that counts: for example, the blue diamond, which is smaller, is very precious because it is one of the rarest ever found. According to experts, the 118-carat super diamond could be sold for between 28 million and 35 million dollars, while the blue one for around 19 million. If you have enough savings aside, hurry up.
