What could be more romantic than the story of Romeo and Juliet? Now Swarovski celebrates Shakespeare’s tragedy with 15 jewels. There’s a reason: the debut of the film “Romeo & Juliet”, a new adaptation of the story of forbidden love in 16th-century Verona, the first film produced by Swarovski Entertainment, a new film division that draws on 80 years of Swarovski collaborations with cinema. The jewels used in the film (and now on sale) were made with delicately colored stones, in shapes that interpret the symbols of history and love: hearts, bows, swords, roses and crosses. The iconic piece of the collection is the Knot ring, with the eternal motif of the knot, which reproduces the pledge of love that Romeo offers to Juliet in the film. Directed by Carlo Carlei and based on the screenplay by Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park), the film is also the first adaptation of Shakespeare’s love story in a Renaissance setting in 44 years. Inspired by the timeless theme of young love in the new film Romeo & Juliet, starring Douglas Booth as Romeo and Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet, Swarovski has created a delightful jewelry collection that reflects the film’s romantic essence.
