Princely result for Christie’s

10.9-carat rectangular-cut diamond ring: estimate 450 thousand euros, sold for 733 thousand. Pearl and diamond necklace: estimate 300 thousand euros, realized price 673 thousand. Sapphire and diamond ring by Chaumet: estimate 200 thousand euros, sold for 560 thousand. Marie-Laurence Tixier, head of the Jewelry department at Christie’s, is satisfied after the auction in Paris: “Once again, in the tradition of Christie’s leadership in the jewelry market, which has lasted since 1994, our sale totaled 6.17 million euros, the second best result for a sale in Paris.” Bidders closed deals mainly over the phone, but there was also strong online participation, with 75 registered auction participants. The 12 lots from the estate of a French princely family exceeded all expectations, reaching a total of 1.7 million euros (6 million the total of the auction). Among the best pieces of this collection was the splendid necklace of natural pearls, diamonds, platinum and gold sold for 673 thousand euros, and the ring with sapphire from Kashmir by Chaumet for 559 thousand. The result was also good for the Art Deco diamond bracelet, also this one by Chaumet, which reached 91 thousand euros.

For enthusiasts, however, there will be a new opportunity: the next jewelry sale in London, on June 4, which includes 40 pieces by Cartier, with pieces in the shape of the animal symbol of Cartier, the panther. The creations of the Panthère collection made their debut in the world of jewelry in 1914. And they still enchant.
