The asymmetric rings of the British designer (awarded at Couture 2016) Polly Wales ♦
Are you getting married? You have an engagement you want to seal with a jewel? Take a look at the designer who in 2016 won the Couture Awards in Las Vegas for the bridal category: Polly Wales. If you like her jewelry, you can also buy them online (the headquarters of the Maison are in the UK). Designer and owner of the brand that bears her name, says she prefers an natural “imperfect beauty ” to the mass produced jewelry. Polly studied jewelery at the Royal College of Art, in London, and before that she was focusing on sculpture. But the jewels, she explains, have enabled her to get in touch directly with people. Her style? It’s a mix that also includes Byzantine and Indian jewelry. The shapes of the rings, even the engagement and wedding ones, are slightly irregular, and small stones embedded in the metal are arranged without always having the usual symmetry. But this doesn’t make them seem less valuable: white, yellow or pink gold is matched with sapphires, diamonds and rubies. And even the solitaires are rather original. Margherita Donato
