Geneva crowns Enrico Cirio

Enrico Cirio (1932-2007), great goldsmith and designer Piedmont: to him Switzerland dedicated an exhibition. From 14 to 30 January, 2016 the center of Les Facettes (https://gioiellis.com/il-paradiso-dellalta-gioielleria), in Geneva, home to the first swiss retrospective dedicated to him. That more than a jeweler was an architect of the jewel: he made small works in platinum and diamonds, or other precious stones, as if they were constructions cutting edge. In short, a architect-star of rings and bracelets. He not coincidentally studied aeronautics, chemistry and crystallography. But, beyond the extraordinary production technique, Cirio was an inventive genius, with jewels dedicated to places (like the boomerang for Australia) or little animals used in jewelry, like the walrus. For the uninitiated, among other things, in Turin there is a small museum dedicated to him (http://ciriomuseum.com). On show at Les Facettes there are creations ranging from the early fifties at the beginning of the millennium. Although his creations had ultramodern style, the designer from Biella had fans among lovers of traditional jewelry: two famous clients are been Indira Gandhi and Elizabeth Taylor. Its production is now continued by his wife, Anna Novara Cirio, who edited the catalog of the exhibition in Geneva.
“It’s nice to have the works of Enrico Cirio in Les Facettes, almost ten years after his death. Les Facettes, in fact, is an exhibition devoted to jewelry created by international designers and independent. The inventive and original works of Enrico Cirio fit perfectly as we strive to offer a privileged place for those who consider jewelry inextricably linked to art and craft,” said Vivien Yakopin, business development manager of Les Facettes.
