Brafa, vintage jewelry is back

Book your ticket: Brafa, the great antiques and jewelry fair, is back. The event will take place from Saturday 25 January to Sunday 2 February 2014 in the Tour & Taxis exhibition spaces in Brussels. Brafa has now reached its 59th edition. 131 exhibitors are expected, and six between specialized galleries and jewelry houses. Brafa is an opportunity for lovers of antique jewelry: the organizers are already able to preview some of the most interesting pieces, such as the Art Nouveau pendant exhibited by Epoque Fine Jewels: made by Lucien Gautrait in Paris around 1900, the female profile is a true sculpture in gold with plique à jour enamel, opals, emeralds, pearls and diamonds. A few years younger, 880-90, but equally astonishing is the necklace exhibited by Galerie Chamarande, with five filigree butterflies joined by four gold chains among pearls, rubies, sapphires. And by Bernard Bouisset a parure of necklace, earrings and bracelet in platinum with cabochon rubies and baguette-cut diamonds from 1935. Galerie Montaigne instead brings to Brafa a selection of jewels from the 1930s and 1940s, including a double Cartier brooch (1941) with a cashmere motif in platinum and gold with diamonds. Finally, the maisons Leysen (Brussels) and Bogh-Art (Geneva-Brussels) present exclusive collections inspired by Art Deco.
