Countdown to Basel (25 April – 2 May 2013). Which this year will take place in a brand new building, handed over to the company that manages the event, Mch Fiera Basel, on February 8th. The set-up of the stands is scheduled to begin on March 4th. The project for the new Baselworld began seven years ago. Construction lasted 22 months, with an investment of 430 million francs. It is the largest investment that has ever been made in Switzerland for a trade fair facility. The building that hosts Baselworld measures 220 meters long, 90 meters wide and 32 meters high. Both on the ground floor and on the two upper floors it has an exhibition area of 38 thousand square meters, for a total of 141 thousand square meters, of which 74,000 square meters are in Pavilion 1 along the Riehenring. The Fair Square has been provided with a superstructure with a skylight courtyard, the so-called City Lounge, which will become a new center of the exhibition area.
