There are also macabre rings. And not because we’re close to Halloween. In the USA, for example, Lee Harvey Oswald’s gold wedding ring was sold at auction for 118 thousand dollars. For those who don’t remember, Oswald was the man who assassinated President John F. Kennedy. The ring was sold to a Texas buyer who, unsurprisingly, wishes to remain anonymous. On the morning of November 22, 1963, before carrying out the assassination, Oswald left his wedding ring in a cup on his dresser and $170 in one of his drawers. The killer’s ring has a small hammer and sickle engraved on the inside. The ring has a complicated history: It was purchased in Minsk, Belarus, then part of the Soviet empire, in April 1961. In 2004 it was discovered in the archives of a Fort Worth lawyer: it was in an envelope marked «Department of the Treasury Secret Service”.
