In a Christie’s auction of a Burmese ruby will be the star in Hong Kong.
Rubies are, now, the most sought-after gems. A ring by Verdura with a 16-carat ruby was sold last April at Christie’s auction in New York for 14.6 million dollars. And now Christie’s tries again, but in Hong Kong: november 29 has scheduled an auction with dazzling ratnaraj Ruby. With a bright red color and a perfect crystal structure, the stone was baptized ratnaraj, which means “king of precious stones” in ancient Sanskrit (a historical Indian language). In reality, the ruby, weighing over 10 carats, mounted on a ring and surrounded by diamonds, it comes from Burma. This stone is considered to be of exceptional color and is called pigeon blood, a very rare quality. It comes from Faidee, a brand which is almost synonymous with rubies. The estimate for this ring is between 8.8 and 12.5 million US dollars. Federico Graglia
