Unpublished images from the exhibition Around the future, new materials and new technologies for jewelry. The exhibition was organized on the occasion of the Fuorisalone del mobile in Milan, in the premises of the Libreria della moda. Objective: to show the public what can be achieved with new technologies, starting with 3D printing, but not only. Italy, where manufacturing is developed hand in hand with imagination and creativity, where artisanal activities still flourish, where design and jewelry are developed to the point of becoming a model, is in an excellent position to continue its tradition of excellence in jewelry. For now, of course, jewelry made of plastic or metal materials is still simple compared to the creations of high goldsmiths. Yet the shapes and models on display, which you see in these images, give an idea of what the developments of technology applied to jewelry production could be. If, for example, the first 3D jewels were produced only using polymers, that is, a plastic, now they can also be made in metal, with special materials that solidify after being treated by the printer. A future that is still to be discovered. And, of course, to be worn.
