Orecchini della collezione Haute Couture

Meissen: Baselworld news

The jewelry collections by Meissen, the famous German porcelain and jewelry maison. These are the jewels that will be presented at Baselworld 2014. The new products, which have a made in Italy design (the jewelry production of the group is based in Milan) expand the number of jewels of the two historic collections of the German maison: my little MysTeRy, inspired by the most refined porcelain workmanship, and 1739 Royal Blossom Collection. But that’s not all: there is a new line, the Haute Couture Collection, which is inspired by the famous Meissen chandelier. The maison, it is almost obvious, expands its Couture line with porcelain, the symbol par excellence of the company. It is painted freehand in pastel shades. Then, the porcelain is covered in rock crystal. In this way Maissen manages to render different geometric shapes: from the drop, to the oval, from the princess to the emerald cut. The youngest line is called 1739 Royal Blossom Collection. The shapes are inspired by the viburnum flowers that King Augustus II of Saxony used to give to his wife, Maria Josepha. Thanks to the artistic skills of Johann Joachim Kaendler, these flowers were reinterpreted in 1739 in a porcelain collection. Today they become a collection of essential jewelry, with gold and precious stones set in elastic mesh.

Another chapter: Haute Couture Collection is defined by the maison as “a journey into the most authentic Meissen tradition”. The idea of the collection is based on the legendary chandelier that Kaendler created for the historic factory in the 18th century. Today, designers Ornella Pasquetti and Marta Garozzo have been inspired by the lines of that work to create three pairs of earrings: they are made of diamonds and sapphires in shades of pale pink, straw yellow, orange and light blue. They have teardrop and oval-cut stones, or are inspired by a bunch of pink wisteria, with a cascade of teardrop-cut diamonds and sapphires. Again, the earrings have the colors of the meadow and aquamarine, to draw the petals of the flowers.
