Gina Lollobrigida is also a superstar in jewellery: 22 pieces made by Bulgari in the 1950s and 1960s from the actress’s collection will go up for auction at Sotheby’s in Geneva on 14 May. The collection will be offered during the Jewels and Noble Sale in Geneva, an auction that will show the precious jewels worn by Lollo in the most important moments of her career, the same ones that were among the highlights of the international exhibition, Bulgari-125 Years of Italian Magnificence. According to the actress’ wishes, part of the proceeds will be allocated to stem cell research, the Sotheby’s auction house specified. In particular, these are a pair of natural pearl and diamond earrings made in 1964 and estimated at between 600 thousand and 1 million dollars, a 19.03-carat diamond ring of the same value and a diamond necklace-bracelet set from 1954 estimated between 300 thousand and 500 thousand dollars. Gina Lollobrigida began collecting Bulgari jewelry in the 1950s and 1960s. «Now I dedicate myself above all to sculpture and a sculptor doesn’t need jewels». Furthermore, she added, the sale “will allow me to help a cause that is particularly close to my heart: stem cell research”.Before the auction in Geneva, the collection will be exhibited in London, New York and Rome.
