Picchiotti presents four unique rings featuring exceptional yellow, purple, green, and orange sapphires.
The sapphire is a precious gemstone; gemmologically speaking, it is a variety of the mineral corundum, just like the ruby. However, one of the sapphire’s defining characteristics is its wide range of colors. While blue is the most well-known shade, other sapphires—known as “fancy” sapphires—come in colors such as yellow, orange, green, brown, purple, and violet, as well as virtually any other hue. Yet, some shades are rarer than others. Distinctions also arise from saturation—the vividness or brightness of the hue—whereas intensity refers to the difference between the lightness and darkness of the color.

Picchiotti has selected four rare sapphires in distinct colors and set each one into a ring. These cushion-cut stones weigh approximately 10 carats. The sapphires come in yellow, green, purple, and orange. Only the orange sapphire has undergone heat treatment (a common process used to enhance a stone’s color), while the others are completely natural. Each gem is set in a ring surrounded by four round-cut diamonds and four baguette-cut diamonds. Furthermore, the white gold band is crafted using the technique from the Xpandable collection, making the jewelry flexible and adjustable to fit various finger sizes.
