In Geneva, a challenge at the last auction. Christie’s announces the sale of The Blue, the brightest fancy diamond among the very rare ones with this color. The auction will be held on May 14, the same day that Sotheby’s has organized another auction in the Swiss city. Who will win? The diamond offered by Christie’s is undoubtedly a rare piece: it weighs 13.22 carats and will be the star of the Magnificent Jewels sale scheduled in the hall of the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues. 250 pieces will be auctioned, for a total value of about 80 million dollars. Just six months earlier, again in Geneva, Christie’s had sold a fancy diamond, The Orange, considered top, for 35.5 million dollars, a world record for an orange diamond. Record also in value per carat: 2.4 million dollars. The Blue is estimated at 21-25 million dollars.
