Baselworld 2013

The first images from Baselworld

Haven’t you managed to go to Basel, where the largest and richest jewelery and watch fair takes place? It’s a shame, because this year’s event is really super. First of all, it takes place in a brand new environment. Furthermore, as you can see on the Gioiellis.com website, there is no shortage of news. It is no coincidence that Baselworld boasts impressive numbers: 100 thousand visitors (expected) from around a hundred nations, 3,500 journalists from 70 countries, 1,460 exhibitors from 40 countries on an exhibition area of 141 thousand square metres. All spread across 12 pavilions, a thousand new stands, with the largest measuring 1,625 square meters (the smallest is 6 square metres). To create this luxury circus, a 6,300-ton steel structure was used for the stands: a job that involved 20 thousand craftsmen. Baselworld, in short, is a small city of precious objects, with 25 thousand people in the stands and 400 cleaning workers. But, above all, a place for business: it is estimated that 6 million business cards are exchanged for the occasion. For those who stayed at home, here are the impressions collected by the photographer for those who frequent Gioiellis.com.
