Cartier buys a Cartier jewel. And for a record sum: 27.4 million dollars. The jewel in question is the splendid jade necklace that belonged to Barbara Hutton and sold by Sotheby’s at auction in Hong Kong. The necklace was signed by the French jeweler who, it turns out, is also the buyer of the exceptional piece of jewelry. The necklace is composed of 27 drops of jade, emerald green in color, very transparent. The jewel designed and repurchased by Cartier is completed by a clasp with rubies and baguette diamonds, set in platinum and 18k yellow gold. The necklace is on display until May 7 at the Cartier Hong Kong Flagship in Landmark Prince’s.
