In this case, the Regal Tales collection offers a glimpse of a past that is not anchored in history, even if the reference is at the time of the Renaissance, but of our contemporary imagery. Pendants, necklaces or bracelets, allow you to simultaneously activate different functions to communicate efficiently with the contacts chosen and to be saved in case of emergency, through an app downloaded on the iPhone or Android smartphone. In fact, inside the jewels there is an electronic micro device. Just one click to send a text message written previously and sharing the position of the person sending it via Gps. From Paris to Bremen. The road is that of the Grimm brothers, who wrote at the beginning of the nineteenth century the fable Town Musicians of Bremen. The address is that of Van Cleef & Arpels, who conceived the collection of fine jewelry Quatre contes de Grimm, which we talked about here. The collection includes four fairy tales: The Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Golden Bird, The Three Feathers, Town Musicians of Bremen. This last fairy tale begins like this: “Once upon a time there was a donkey that carried heavy bags of flour every day. It was not easy to translate the fairy tale into a collection of fine jewelry. Van Cleef & Arpels has succeeded in this way: in the dark forest, Bremen musicians suddenly see the light of a window. This image becomes a bracelet with a halo of white and pink diamonds surrounding the central stone, with black spinels, onyx and round and baguette diamonds. “The distant clarity of the house is so evoked in a contrast of colors and materials that evokes an impression of splendor and brightness”.
In Grimm’s story, the animals triumph over brigands joining. The episode is evoked with the earrings that use Pierres de Caractére, with 14 yellow diamonds cut to pink for a total of 18.18 carats, diamonds. The pendants of the earrings are removable.
On the night of the fairy tale, the Sous la lune necklace shines with a rare ensemble of five rows of deep blue Burmese sapphires, for a total of 647.02 carats. Below, stands a pendant designed around a generous 29.44 carat emerald cabochon of Colombia. The new collection of fine jewelry by Van Cleef & Arpels, instead, is inspired by four stories written by the famous brothers Grimm, who at the beginning of the nineteenth century collected and reworked the fairy tales of the German folk tradition. The four fairy tales turned into jewels are The Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Golden Bird, The Three Feathers, Town Musicians of Bremen. If you do not remember the stories, the jewels of the collection will probably make you want to read them again. By the way, the fantasy world of children’s stories must have a special appeal for the Maison, since four years ago Van Cleef & Arpels was inspired by the fairy tale Peau d’âne (Leather of Donkey) by Charles Perrault.

With these four fairy tales, the knights, ladies and enchanted objects, like the feathers, are transformed with as much magic into necklaces, brooches, rings. As in the tradition of Van Cleef & Arpels also these fabulous jewels have been created with the most scrupulous attention in the choice of gems and in the subsequent creation of jewels. De Beers presents Diamond Legends: four myths of antiquity inspire four lines of jewelry ♦ ︎

De Beers is synonymous with diamonds. Diamonds are synonymous with myth. And what is more mythical than ancient mythology? From this reasoning started the brand for its Diamond Legends collection, presented during the Paris haute couture week. The collection has been designed in four different chapters. As the legends that accompany the myths, in fact, each jewelry line is a story in itself.
The first line of the Diamond Legends collection is dedicated to Cupid, the smallest of the Greek gods, a symbol of love. The jewels inspired by Cupid have opposing rows of princess and marquise diamonds, which come together, as if they were lovers. Naturally, a moi et toi ring could not be missing, which with pointed diamonds alludes to the arrows shot by Cupid. Ra’s suite, on the other hand, borrows the mythology of ancient Egypt. Here there are many yellow diamonds that form a sun, the star symbol of the god Ra. With another line, Celestia, we return instead to the ancient Greeks, who saw the diamonds as tears of the gods: in this case the celestial compositions are more regular, with the alternation of round and pear-cut diamonds. Finally, the last line was called by De Beers with the name of the god Vulcan. Colored diamonds, brown, pink, green, allude to the boiling magma given off with lava. But do not worry: you can wear them without fear of burning yourself. Alessia Mongrando

Noor Fares Superlunary

The organic forms, between nature and laboratory, in the Superlunary collection by Noor Fares ♦ ︎

There are those who believe that the stones possess the power to project magical influences. Among those fascinated by this idea is Noor Fares, a Parisian designer of Lebanese origins. The curious aspect, however, is another: for the new Superlunary collection, Noor Fares has chosen to work with synthetic stones as well. Will the opals born in the laboratory have magical powers? Who knows. “In Superlunary, I work with natural materials and with those born in the laboratory, but essentially the healing properties of the stones are still there, because they concern the intention as much as the material”, argues the designer.
In any case, the collection has an original approach to jewelry. So much so that in order to create Superlunary, the designer turned to Flavie Audi, a specialist artist in glass working, her childhood friend. Together with her, Noor conceived the irregular shapes of the stones, which are inspired by those of the organic world, through 3D design. Synthetic opals, resin, rock crystal (natural) and gold are the main elements of Superlunary. “It was a challenge to work with organic forms, rather than rigid lines and geometries, and create organic fluidity in a stone,” explained Noor Fares. In any case, whether they are made of synthetic or natural stones, jewels have the undoubted advantage of originality. Giulia Netrese
