The Palme d’Or is the prize that the Cannes Film Festival awards each year to the best film in the official selection. Since 1998, this coveted jewel has been made by Chopard. This year there is something new: the trophy of the 67th edition, from 14 to 25 May 2014, for the first time is made of “Fairmined” certified gold. The idea is promoted by the Parisian maison to promote sustainable development also in luxury. The Fairmined brand, in fact, indicates strict adherence to correct rules of economic, social and environmental life during the extraction of the metal. Chopard has been a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) for several years, an association that sets environmental, social and ethical standards. The Journey to Sustainable Luxury program was promoted in May 2013, during the 66th Cannes Film Festival. Chopard is committed to purchasing from suppliers who guarantee responsible practices in social and environmental terms. At the latest Golden Globes ceremony, Cate Blanchett, winner of the award for best actress, wore diamond earrings from Chopard’s “good” collection.
