Pandora Moments in Design, Mariya Zaykova

Pandora Wunderkammer

The Wunderkammer, literally chamber of wonders, was a typical phenomenon of the sixteenth century. With Pandora it becomes the very current theme of an exhibition at the DesignCafé of the Triennale di Milano, subtitled Tales of precious worlds. Fifteen students from Naba (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano) interpret it by intertwining it with the production of the Danish jewelry brand. The result? 15 very different works but united by a mix of design, art and new trends, such as the box used in ancient times to preserve meat, which today, according to Mariya Ruseva, contains a special moment of life, represented by the Moments charms; for Guneet Cheema, instead, it is the Indian elephant decorated for religious holidays, in this case with Pandora jewelry. Sergio Chiodin used Murano glass charms to evoke memories of Venice, where the jewels inserted into the acrylic silhouettes of Palazzo Ducale and the Rialto Bridge refer to the hidden sides of the city. Benedetta Giorgelli quotes Proust and how the taste of the Madeleine unexpectedly evokes an event: in her installation, a roller on which a story is written, the words are transformed into charms and therefore into the memory of a special moment.
